WARNING! - The safety instructions given in this
manual refer exclusively to operation of the power
unit. The instructions do not take account of the
danger deriving from use of the machine of which
the power unit is a component part.
WARNING: The ignition system of your machine
produces an electromagnetic field of very low
intensity. This field could interfere with certain
pacemakers. To reduce the risk of serious or fatal
injury, persons with pacemakers should consult
their doctor or the manufacturer of the
pacemaker before using this machine.
WARNING: – National regulations could limit use
of the machine.
1 - Do not use the power unit when you are tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication (Fig.1).
2 - Wear appropriate clothing and safety articles including
boots, heavy-duty trousers, gloves, safety spectacles,
ear protection and protective helmet. Work clothing
should be close-fitting but comfortable.
3 - Use of the power unit is restricted to adult operators
capable of understanding and complying with the
safety rules, precautions and operating instructions
given in this manual. Do not allow minors to use the
power unit under any circumstances.
4 - Ensure you are at a safe distance from other persons
or animals before using the power unit (Fig.2).
5 - Before starting the power unit make sure the throttle
trigger is free moving.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
6 - Fill the fuel tank away from heat sources and with the
engine stopped (Fig.3). Do not smoke when refueling
(Fig.3).
7 - Do not refuel the engine in an enclosed place or
poorly ventilated areas.
8 - Do not start the engine unless all engine parts are
fitted, including the exhaust system, air filter, filter
covers and starter guard, and only when all parts are
securely fixed in place.
9 - When the engine is idling the coupled attachment
must be stopped. If the attachment is running, adjust
the idle speed screw.
10 - Never attempt to perform maintenance work when
the engine is running.
11 - Do not use the engine if the exhaust system is damaged.
12 - Do not use fuel (2-stroke mixture) to clean the
product.
13 - Keep the spark plug well clear of the spark plug bore
in the cylinder when checking the spark.
14 - Check the power unit daily to ensure that all safety
and other devices are perfectly functional.
15 - Do not use the power unit in enclosed or poorly
ventilated places. Exhaust gas is toxic: contains carbon
monoxide (Fig.4).
16 - When the power unit is running (of when it is stopped
but still hot) keep it well away from inflammable
materials.
17 - Beware of the hot exhaust system and other hot engine
parts.
18 - Stop the power unit and wait for it to cool down
before refueling. Do not fill the fuel tank completely.
19 - Do not remove the fuel cap or fill the tank while the

engine is still hot or when it is running (allow the
engine to cool for at least 2 minutes before refueling).
20 - Do not run the engine in the presence of fuel spills,
perceptible petrol odour or explosion hazards (move
the power tool away from any fuel spills and avoid
the creation of sparks until the fuel has completely
evaporated) (Fig.5).
21 - Do not tamper with the engine settings (run the power
unit at the speed preset by the manufacturer).
22 - Empty the fuel tank before transporting the power
unit over rough road surfaces or long distances.
23 - Store the power unit in a dry place well away from
sources of heat and raised off the ground.
24 - If necessary, the flywheel and clutch must always be
repaired by an Authorised Service Centre to avoid the
risk of breakages resulting in hazardous projection
of objects.
25 - Do not attempt to carry out any servicing or repairs
other than normal maintenance yourself. Refer
exclusively to an Authorised Service Centre.
26 - Please note that the owner or the user is responsible
for any accidents or damage to third parties or their
property.
When the machine is running, grip the front handle
firmly with your left hand and the Power Unit handle
with your right hand. Never use a cross-handed grip.
Left-handers should follow these instructions too.
Check that all parts of the body are kept away from the
blades and muffler.
THESE ARE HOT ENOUGH TO CAUSE BURNS!
