Important notes
Read the installation instructions carefully before starting work.
The electrical installation kit may only be installed by qualified specialist personnel.
The work to be carried out on the vehicle, as described in these installation instructions, may
differ due to model facelifts. For example, changes to the wiring colours or the installation
locations cannot be ruled out. Always refer to the most recent current flow diagram or the current
repair manual for the vehicle.
Caution - Disconnect battery.
Damage to vehicle electronics, electronically stored data may be lost.
Read fault memory before starting work.
Note
During installation, pay particular attention to the following points:
Cables may not be trapped or damaged.
Fit all sealing elements properly.
The socket seal must be positioned on the insulating hose and not on the individual wires.
Lay cables in such a way that they will not be abraded or kinked on the vehicle.
Do not lay cables in the immediate vicinity of the exhaust system.
Fit control units in such a way that no moisture can get in. The cable connection should
always point downwards.
The control for the direction indicator on the trailer is already fitted on the vehicle and is pre-
assembled.
When towing, the fog tail light on the trailer is switched off.
A fog tail light must be retrofitted on trailers that do not have one.
A socket adapter may only be used when towing. Remove the socket adapter after towing.
Check that the trailer is in working order using a suitable tester with load resistors or a trailer.
