5. Operating Instructions
 Never operate the machine with wet hands!
 Danger of burning and scalding! The liquids and steam are very hot! Do not approximate your
face and hands to the zone above the steam wands.
 Do not touch the groups and the metal parts of the porta-filter because they are very hot!
5.1. Getting started
5.1.1. FIRST SETUP
 First open the water tap, only then use the I/O switch in order to switch the machine on.
 During the first water filling, the heating only initiates AFTER the water has reached the minimum
level (when the green signal light turns off)
 In all other cases, the heating is permanently working, except for when the water level has sunk
below the minimum and the machine is blocked.
1. Open the water tap in order to make sure the machine is supplied with water.
2. Press the main switch on the right front of the machine.

 All groups are inactive and all functions of the machine are blocked, except for the technical
programming mode
5. In order to turn on the electronics, press key 3 (ON) on group 1 (leftmost group).

6. The green signal lamp (pump) lights up, indicating that the machine has automatically initiated the
water filling of the water/ steam boiler. When the green signal lamp switches off, the orange signal
lamp lights up, indicating that the heating process is in progress.
 It takes about 20 minutes until the water/steam boiler has reached its default working
temperature of 122ºC.
 It takes about 2 minutes until the coffee water boiler has reached its default working temperature
(92ºC).
 It take about 12 minutes until the groups have reached their default working temperature (92ºC).
7. Press key 5 on each of the keyboards in order to let water run through the groups. After a few
seconds, press key 5 again in order to turn the water off. This important steps makes sure that the
groups are supplied with water.
