5.7 Power supply

For power supply, only use the power supply unit
provided! Connect the power supply unit to the jack
DC INPUT (33). To prevent accidental disconnec-
tion of the plug, wrap the cable around the strain
relief (34):

Finally connect the power supply unit to a socket
(230 V~ / 50 Hz) via the mains cable provided. The
power LED of the power supply unit will light up.
6 Operation of the Microphones
6.1 Power supply / settings
1) Push the latch (7) of the battery compartment
cover towards the microphone head to unlock
the cover, then remove the cover.
2) Two small switches are provided in the battery
compartment; to set the switches, use a narrow
object (e. g. screwdriver):
– Switch CHANNEL (5) to select the transmis-
sion channel: Model IRS-200HT is factory-set
to channel A; model IRS-202HT to channel B.
To change the channel, set the switch accord-
ingly.
– Switch POWER (6) to select the transmission
power: In the position HI a range of up to 20 m
is reached; in the position LOW a range of up
to 15 m. With a higher transmission power,
however, the battery life will decrease due to
faster discharge.
3) Insert two 1.5 V batteries or rechargeable 1.2 V
NiMH batteries of size AA into the battery com-
partment. Always observe the correct polarity
(
marking inside the compartment). Replace
the cover.
If the microphone is not in use for a longer
period of time, remove the batteries to prevent
damage due to battery leakage.
Used batteries must not be placed in
the household waste; always take them
to a special waste disposal, e. g. collec-
tion container at your retailer.
6.2 Carrying strap IRS-200H (optional)
The carrying strap IRS-200H available as an
accessory and consisting of a strap of adjustable
length and a removable belt clip allows you to wear
the microphone around your neck or to attach it to
your clothes. To insert the microphone into the car-
rying strap, unscrew the microphone head, replace
the ring underneath it in front of the IR LEDs (1) by
the ring on the strap, then screw on the microphone
head again.

6.3 Connection of an audio source
An input jack (3) for an audio source is provided on
the lower side of the IRS-2..HT. When this jack is
connected, the internal microphone will be deacti-
vated.
The 3.5 mm jack is primarily provided for connecting
a tie clip microphone or headband microphone, e. g.
if you wear the IRS-2..HT on your body (
ter 6.2) and want to keep your hands free. Connect
the tie clip/headband microphone via a mono plug;
the audio signal and the operating voltage of the
microphone will be routed via the tip of the plug.
As an alternative, it is possible to connect a
portable audio unit with line level (e. g. MP3 player).
Due to the wiring of the jack (
fications), however, the right channel will be repro-
duced at a lower volume than the left channel if you
connect the unit via a stereo plug.
7 Operation
CAUTION Never adjust the audio system to a
very high volume. Permanent high
volumes may damage your hearing!
Your ear will get accustomed to high
volumes which do not seem to be
that high after some time. Therefore,
do not further increase a high volume
after getting used to it.
1) Prior to switching on the amplifier, fully turn back
the volume controls of all audio sources: the con-
trols AUX and PC (17), each for the inputs AUX
and PC (26) and the two controls for transmission
channel A (19) and transmission channel B (23).
