5 Connection of the Amplifier
GB
Always switch off the amplifier before making any
connections.
5.1 External sensors IRS-200IR (optional)
To extend the transmission range or to ensure an
optimum IR transmission even when the amplifier
is placed in an unfavourable position, use one or
two external IR sensors IRS-200IR which will
receive IR signals in addition to the integrated IR
sensor (reception range of the external sensor and
examples for installation
nect the jack (9) of the sensor via the 10 m cable
provided to one of the two jacks SENSOR INPUTS
(24) of the amplifier, then secure the connectors
with the cap nuts.
When you have found the optimum position for
the sensor after performing a trial operation, mount
it on the wall or ceiling by means of its bracket (8)
via four screws. Release the locking screws (10) of
the bracket, adjust the inclination angle of the sen-
sor, then fasten the screws again.

5.2 Audio sources with line level

The inputs PC and AUX (26) allow to connect two
units with line signal level (e. g. CD player or audio
output of a DVD player, PC, laptop). For connec-
tion, stereo RCA jacks are used; the left channel
and the right channel will internally be combined to
a mono signal.
5.3 Connection to a PA system
To connect the IRS-200AMP to an existing PA sys-
tem operating with 25 V, 70 V or 100 V technique,
an input with priority circuit is provided. When an
announcement is made via the PA system, the
announcement signal will also be routed to the out-
puts of the IRS-200AMP. During the announce-
ment, all audio sources of the IRS-200AMP are
muted.
WARNING During operation, dangerous voltage
up to 100 V is present at the an -
nouncement input (31) when a PA
system is connected. The connec-
tion to a PA system must always be
made by skilled personnel.
1) Before connecting, always switch off the PA sys-
tem completely!
2) Set the voltage selector switch (30) to the volt-
age corresponding to the output voltage at the
speaker output of the PA amplifier (25 V, 70 V or
100 V).

3) Connect the screw terminals ANNOUNCEMENT
(31) to the speaker cable of the PA amplifier. To
facilitate handling, the terminals can be discon-
nected from their plug-in connections.

5.4 Recorder or additional amplifier

The output AUX OUT (29) allows to connect an
additional unit with a line signal level input (e. g.
recorder, amplifier). At this output, the mixed signal
of the audio sources is present which has been
adjusted with the individual volume controls. For
connection, a 3.5 mm stereo jack is used which
provides an identical mono signal on both chan-
nels.
5.5 Speakers
Connect the speakers to the outputs 1 and 2 (25).
The terminal pairs of an output, each arranged one
above the other, are connected in parallel. For each
output, the total impedance of the speakers must
not fall below 4 Ω.
Examples for connection
To adjust the desired volume ratio of the two out-
puts 1 and 2, use the recessed controls (18) on the
lower side. Turn the controls with a small screw-
driver. The further a control is turned clockwise, the
higher the attenuation of the volume for the corre-
sponding output will be.
5.6 Charging station IRS-200PS (optional)
The charging station IRS-200PS (for charging the
batteries of the microphones IRS-2..HT) available
as an accessory can also be supplied with power
via the amplifier instead of its power supply unit
provided. Connect the charging station via the sup-
plied cable with low voltage plugs to the jack
CHARGE OUTPUT (32). The charging station is
supplied with power even when the amplifier has
been switched off.
