INSTALLING THE REPLACEMENT SPOOL
1. Remove all packaging from the replacement spool.
NOTE: There may be shrink wrap holding the trimmer line in place on the
replacement spool. This must be removed, but be sure to hold the line in place
with your fingers to prevent it from unwinding from the spool.
Pull the loose end of the trimmer line out of the retaining slot (5) in the spool

NOTE: Be sure to hold the line in place with your fingers to prevent it from
unwinding from the spool.
3. Unwind approximately 5" (12.7 cm) of line from the spool before threading the
loose line through the holes in the spool housing.
Thread the loose end of the trimmer line (6) through the holes (7) in the spool

housing (2).
5. While holding and pulling slightly on the loose line, slide the spool onto the
housing spindle (8) as far as it will go.
6. Once the replacement spool is fully inserted into the spool housing, replace
the spool cap (3) by inserting the locking buttons (1) into the spool housing.

Press the spool cap fully into the spool housing until the locking buttons
"click" into the matching holes (9) in the spool housing.
NOTE: If the spool cap locking buttons do not "click" into place, check to
make sure there is no debris in the spool housing that is preventing the spool
cover from properly locking into place. The spool will become dislodged from
the spool housing if not properly locked in place.
When the new trimmer line spool is

installed, approximately 3" (7.6 cm) of
trimmer line should be exposed beyond
the spool housing. If they are too long,
cut lines to length with scissors.
If they are too short, press the line
release button (1) on the trimmer line
housing and gently pull on the exposed
trimmer lines (Fig. 16).
NOTE: Each time you press the line
release button it will release
approximately ½" (13 mm) of line
from the spool.
