Connection to an AC power line
The equipment is set for either 230 V/50 and 60 Hz or 120 V/
50 and 60 Hz supplies. Changes for other voltages or frequencies
should only be made by qualified dealers or Dual service per-
sonnel to ensure that the necessary safety precautions are
maintained.
Please check that the power requirements as specified on the
equipment's name plate agree with the local mains supply.
Connection to a HiFi system or amplifier
The following jacks are provided on the rear of your HiFi stereo
cassette deck (Fig. 1):
DIN REC/PB:
Five-pole DIN standard jack for recording and playback; for
connection to amplifiers and receivers using the audio cable
part number 226 816.
Using the dubbing adapter, part number 226 818, direct dub-
bing can be made from another tape recorder in both directions.
LINE OUTPUT L/R:
Output jacks for connection to an amplifier or receiver having
RCA (Cynch) jacks. The correct audio cable for this is part
number 226 817.
LINE INPUT L/R:
With the help of these accessories, your equipment can be
driven from all sources which can be connected to your HiFi
amplifier (turntable, tuner etc.). Special cables and dubbing
adapters are available as accessories from qualified dealers.
Output level control
Using the output level controls LEVEL L/R the output level at
the LINE OUTPUT jacks and at the DIN jack can be controlled.
In this manner, the volume level of the cassette deck can be
adjusted to the volume of the other source.

Tape type selection
Your HiFi cassette deck is fitted with a selector switch (22) for
six tape types, which will help you when using the many types
of tape on the market today and the tapes which will appear in
the future. By use of this tape type selector switch (22) for six
tape types you alter the equalization, biasing and sensitivity of
the unit. For this reason, always select the correct switch posi-
tion during recording and during playback.
Look at the table on the page 3 or at the enclosed tape type
compass for the tape to be used and select the optimum working
position for this tape using the switch (22).
The tape type compass is designed so that you can fit it into a
cassette box and have it handy at all times. For this purpose,
fold it on the ribbed lines. To facilitate marking your cassettes,
a sheet with self-adhesive labels for the six tape types and with
the Dolby emblem is included. Fortapeswhich you do not find
in the table, the following listing of tape data will help you to
find the correct switch position.

Music cassettes should be played at switch position Fe or Cr
according to the data on the cassette. If designation or other in-
formation as to the tape type is missing, select switch position Fe.
Auto reverse operation
Your cassette deck is equipped with an unique handling feature:
the automatic reverse.
Without having to reverse the cassette or rewind the tape, you
can immediately switch from one tape direction to the other
and thus from one stereo recording to the other.
Thanks to the doubly present drive mechanics, record/play-
back head and erase head, not only playback is possible in both
tape directions, but also recording.

be automatically switched to the other direction when
the end of tape is reached or
continuous play should be programmed.
Important: In this position, recording also continues
without interruption.

Inserting and removing the cassette
If you press the « (11) key the tape will be stopped at end of
tape even if the MODE switch (2) is switched to 5 .
In any desired status, the cassette can be inserted, without
having to first press the STOP key (10). The two keys CAS-
SETTE (3) + (8) make sure that tape transport is automatically
interrupted and the heads are retracted when the cassette is
removed.
Thanks to the integrated microprocessor, the previously selec-
ted operational status remains stored even after removing a
cassette and will be continued after inserting a new cassette.
