Tips:
-Before starting ironing, sort your garments. The
iron heats up more quickly than it cools down. This
means that you should start with the garments that
require the lowest temperature.
-If the fabric is made up of different types of
thread, always set the temperature to the appro-
priate level for the fibre that requires the lowest
temperature.
-If you have do not know the material composition
of an item, iron a non-visible area of the item to test
it. Start with the lowest temperature and increase
it gradually until you have found the appropriate
temperature.
-In order to avoid pure wool, silk and artificial fibres
glistening, iron the garment inside out.
-For velvet, place a cloth over the item to be ironed
and only iron it with slight pressure, and only in one
direction. Always keep the iron moving.
Turning the iron off
DANGER – danger of death from electrocu-
tion
Do not direct steam at electrical appliances or
plug sockets.
Turn the steam ironing function off with the
steam release button before you return the iron to
the rest plate on the base unit.
The rest plate of the base unit is heat-resistant and
protects the soleplate.
Please note the following:
-Always place the iron on the rest plate of the base
unit.
-In order to avoid the soleplate getting scratched,
do not place the iron on metal surfaces.
-When using the steam generator iron for longer
periods, water can be deposited on the rest plate of
the base unit. Wipe this off every now and then.
Dry ironing
1.Set the temperature using the temperature dial.
The Temperature indicator light on the iron comes
on.
It goes out when the set iron temperature has been
reached.
If the iron is being heated again to the set tempe-
rature, the Temperature indicator light comes on
again.
2.Iron the garments without pressing the steam
release button.
Steam ironing
WARNING – risk of scalds and burns
∙ The steam emitted is very hot! Touching either the
heated soleplate or the emitted steam will lead to
burns or scalds.
∙ Never iron garments while they are being worn!
∙ Never direct the soleplate at people or animals,
especially when you are using the steam ironing
setting.
When you start using the steam iron,
or the tank has been refilled, or you have been
ironing without interruption for a long time, it will
take slightly longer before steam comes out of the
soleplate. Let steam come out for a moment before
you target the flow of steam onto the textiles. This
is how you stabilise the flow of steam.
Individual drops of condensation may
come out of the openings in the soleplate:
- while the iron heats up for the first time;
- the first time the steam iron function is used;
- if the temperature dial is not set at least to **; or
- if the steam generator function has not been used
during ironing for a long time.
This is normal and is not a cause for concern. Iron
an old cotton cloth or similar with the steam func-
tion switched on for a short time, until there is no
more condensation water coming out.
A high temperature is required for steam ironing.
1.Set the temperature dial to between ** and
***Max.
The Temperature indicator light on the iron comes
on.
2.Turn the steam dial to the desired steam volume.
After a short pause, you will hear the pump start
and it will pump water out of the water tank and
into the boiler.
As soon as there is sufficient steam available in the
boiler, the Steam indicator light comes on.
As soon as the Temperature indicator light on the
iron goes out, you can start steam ironing.
3.Press the steam release button. Steam will then
continuously come out of the openings in the
soleplate.
4.Press the steam release button again to switch
off the steam iron function.
Steam will come out until the water in
the water tank has been used up. If the amount of
steam coming out reduces during ironing, switch
the steam iron function off using the steam release
button so that more steam can build up in the boiler
again.
Smoothing hanging textiles
You can smooth sensitive textiles (such as jackets,
coats and curtains) using steam without needing
to place them flat on an ironing board. You can also
give the surface of wool jumpers or jackets more
volume using this method.
