1.Hold the water tank over a sink and allow the tap
water to run
through the opening and into the tank.
Always fill the water tank to the MAX line, but be
careful not to go above this line.
2.If any water has spilled around the opening, wipe
the water tank carefully.
Inserting the water tank
1.Place the runners on the underside of the water
tank into the grooves on the base unit.
2.Slide the water tank carefully as far into the base
unit as it will go and press to ensure it is securely
fixed in place.
3.Check whether the water tank is sitting securely
on the base unit by shaking gently on the grip.
If the water tank is not positioned
correctly the Water tank indicator light will come
on or not turn off. Take the water tank out again
completely and insert it correctly.
Connecting and turning on the steam generator
iron
WARNING – risk of fire
Do not leave the appliance unattended when it is
plugged in or is still hot.
You may hear hissing noises or the
electric pump during use. These noises are entirely
normal operating noises and do not indicate a fault.
1.Turn the temperature dial to Min.
2.Turn the steam dial to – .
3.Insert the plug into an easily accessible socket.
4.Tilt the on/off switch to I.
After a moment you will hear the pump begin to
operate, pumping water from the water tank into
the boiler.
5.Turn the temperature dial to the desired tempe-
rature.
6.Turn the steam dial to the desired amount of
steam.
The Temperature indicator light will come on. As
soon as the boiler has enough steam to be used,
the Steam indicator light [image] will come on.
Removing production residue
The first time the appliance heats up
you may notice a slight odour – this is no cause for
concern. Ensure there is sufficient ventilation.
There may be polish residue left on the soleplate
from the manufacturing process.
Before using the iron for the first time, iron this
residue off onto an old cotton cloth.
1.Fill the water tank in accordance with the instruc-
tions given in the "Filling the water tank" section.
2.Iron an old cotton cloth or similar using the steam
iron function (see the section "Ironing – steam
ironing") until all the residue is gone.
Ironing
CAUTION – risk of material damage
Do not scratch the soleplate. Do not scrape the
soleplate over metal parts like buttons or zips.
Connecting the steam generator iron
Connect the appliance and switch it as described in
the section on "Preparing the steam generator iron
for the first use".
Setting the temperature
CAUTION – risk of material damage
∙ Follow the care instructions in the garments you
are ironing. The ironing symbols shown on the
temperature dial correspond to the standard care
symbols.
∙ Polyacrylics, acetate-polyamide mixed fabrics
and similar materials cannot be ironed.
Set the temperature using the temperature dial.
The points have the following meanings:
Chemical fibres (synthetic fibres) such as:
Acrylan, Dralon, Leacryl, Orlon, Acetate, Acrylic,
Perlon (low temperature)
Wool, silk and synthetic fibres such as:
Dacron, Lilion, Helion, Rayon, Polyester (medium
temperature)
Woven fabrics that are ironed at a high
temperature, such as:
Cotton, linen (high temperature)
The Temperature indicator light on the iron comes
on when the iron is heating up.
It goes out when the set iron temperature has been
reached.
