5 Operation
5.1 Transport of frames with cover
The shaft frame tongs are used to transport round frames with an outer diameter of 750 mm or 785
mm.
•
For the outer diameter of 750 mm, the adjustable clamping jaw must be locked in the inner
bore (1), for an outer diameter of 785 mm in the outer bore (2). If this is not the case, adjust
the jaw and secure the plug-in bolt (3) (Fig. 4).
•
The clamping lever (4) is locked by the locking lever (5) in the U-beam (6) (Fig. 5). If this is not
the case, press down the clamping lever (4) until the locking lever (5) engages under the U-
beam (6).

The shaft frame tongs can now be attached to the hoist with a suitable sling; the clamping
jaws are at the bottom. The suspension ring is pulled upwards. The grab is now placed
centrally on the frame. The rubber buffers are adjusted so that they have a distance of approx.
5 mm to the frame and are secured with the lock nut.

After the locking lever (5) has been lifted (Fig. 6), the gripper clamps and the frame can be
carefully lifted by approx. 10 cm.
The hook must be aligned with the lid and the suspension ring must be above the center of
gravity of the lid. Otherwise, the frame may slip and the gripper may be damaged by oblique
loading. Danger of accident!

The frame can now be transported.
Transport is only permitted in the area close to the ground. The presence of persons under the
load or in the danger zone is strictly prohibited!
•
After setting down the frame, the locking lever (5) engages under the U-profile (6) and the
gripper can be lifted off empty. If the locking lever does not engage, press down the clamping
lever (4) by hand.
•
The shaft frame clamp can now be lifted off and is ready for the next use.

5.1.1 Lifting the cover
•
First check whether the hooks A or B fit into the openings and grip the lid securely (Fig. 2 and
3). If this is not the case, special hooks must be used.
•
Turn the hook 180° so that the clamping jaws are at the top. Pull the suspension ring upwards.
The grab can now be suspended from any lifting gear using a suitable sling.
•
Align the shaft frame tongs centrically to the frame, insert the two matching hooks from above
through the two slots and lock them in place.
