Raynaud's phenomenon (white finger disease)
The frequent use of vibrating machines may damage the nerves of persons suffering from bad
circulation (e.g. smokers, diabetics). In particular, fingers, hands, wrists, and/or arms may show the fol-
lowing symptoms, but they may not be present: pain, prickling, stinging, falling asleep of limbs, and
paling of the skin.
• If you start sensing unusual impairment, stop working immediately and consult a doctor.
You may reduce your risks considerably by observing the following information:
• Keep your body and in particular, your hands warm in cold weather. Working with cold hands is the
main trigger of Raynaud's phenomenon.
• Take regular breaks, and stretch and exercise your hands. By doing so, you will increase your cir-
culation in your hands.
