How to tension the chain

WARNING! A slack diamond chain may

jump off and cause serious or even fatal

injury.

•

If the play between drive link and bar is bigger than 1/

2" (12 mm) (A), the chain is too loose and must be

tightened.

•

Loosen the bar nuts that hold the cover. Use the

combination tool. Then tighten the bar nuts by hand as

tight as you can.

•

Stretch the diamond chain by tightening the chain

tensioning screw using the combination tool. Tighten

the diamond chain until it does not sag from the

underside of the bar.

•

Use the combination tool to tighten the bar nuts while

lifting the tip of the bar at the same time. Check that

you can pull the diamond chain round freely by hand

and that it does not sag from the underside of the bar.
