Hints:
Before removing the used attachment from the motor unit make sure the
grinding stone and the motor unit have come to a complete standstill.
The grinder/sharpener can only be operated if the attachment is inserted and
locked properly into the motor unit.
Using as Drill Bit Sharpener
The multi-function grinder and sharpener is intended to sharpen steel drill bits.
Carbide twist drills must not be sharpened with this unit
An
appropriately
characterised by a spiky point in the
middle of the drill tip, lip with two sharp and
identically sized sides, two back edges that
are slightly lower than the front edge of the
lip.
If the drill does not look like as specified
above, it has to be sharpened. Rough
sharpening on a desk grinder followed by
using the multi-function sharpener is
recommended for sharpening of skewed or
very blunt drills.
1. Install the attachment for sharpening drill bits on the motor unit.
2. Fully lower the grinding stone. Turn the rotary switch (C2) counter
clockwise up to the end in direction DOWN.
3. Insert the twist drill into the suitable drill bit slot (C1). The exact sizes (Ø)
of each drill are shown on the cover in centimetres. Turn the twist drill
clockwise until you notice that the drill is engaged.
4. Switch on the motor unit with the ON/OFF switch (A1) in direction I for
continuous operation. Turn the rotary switch in direction UP, until you hear
a grinding noise.
Hints: With the rotary switch you can adjust the position of the grinding
stone. The further you turn the rotary switch in direction UP, the greater
the pressure will be. Do not turn the rotary switch too far up, as the
grinding stone will strike the housing.
5. Slightly pull the twist drill up and turn it through 180° (horizontally) and
insert it again until it touches the grinding stone. Repeat the process until
both cutting edges of the twist drill are sharp. Switch off the motor unit by
pressing the ON/OFF switch in direction O.
