Installing the cheese in its holder
First, make sure that the distance between the heating unit (E) and the cheese holder (A) is large enough to let the cheese
pass under the heating unit. If necessary, adjust the distance with the knob (D). If necessary, adjust the distance by turning
the cheese holder around the threaded rod (D).
▪
Swing the arm with the cheese holder outwards.
▪
Place the ready-to-use cheese block on the cheese holder with the two tips. The tips, on which the cheese is placed,
prevent the cheese from slipping when scraping the cheese.
▪
Position the cheese under the heater. Adjust the desired distance between the cheese and the heater using the
threaded rod.
▪
The optimum distance is about 1-2 cm.
Starting the oven and preparing the raclette
Connect the power cable to the oven's plug (F) and then to the main's outlet. Switch on the appliance. When the oven
▪
is used for the first time, the heating unit may release a little smoke for about 30 seconds. This is normal and not
dangerous.
▪
When the cheese is melted (or grilled), grasp the cheese holder with the side handles and tilt it. Scrape off the melted
cheese with a TTM raclette knife with its smooth side.
▪
After 4 or 5 raclettes, cut off the cheese's remaining crusts with the TTM raclette knife's toothed side and serve them
with the raclette. These crusts taste heavenly, hence the name "religieuse".
▪
The raclette must be eaten warm. It is customary for the person being served to enjoy his or her raclette immediately
without waiting for the other guests to be served.
▪
The traditional raclette is served with unpeeled potatoes, pickles or other vinegar conserved vegetables. As an
accompaniment, a dry white wine or tea will increase the pleasure.
Note: if the raclette is interrupted by a break, it is advisable to turn off the oven for energy consumption reasons and to
prevent the cheese from absorbing too much heat. If the appliance is not switched off, make sure that the cheese holder
is centred under the heating unit to act as a reflector.
Cleaning
After each raclette party, let the oven cool off completely.
Rinse the non-stick coated grill plate and the cheese holder under running water and dry well. Do not use abrasive
cleaners or sharp-edged objects. Clean only with a cleaning cloth or nylon brush. Never immerse the appliance and its
parts in water or put them in the dishwasher! Only wipe the bottom of the raclette machine with a damp cloth.
