Knife sharpener
a) Sharpening a knife
The knife sharpener is only suitable for sharpening knives with smooth edges. Ser-
rated blades or similar may not be sharpened.
Moreover, the knife sharpener may only be used for knives with metal blades (no
ceramic, plastic, etc.).
We recommend engaging an expert to grind especially high-quality knives to avoid
any damage.
• Install the knife sharpener attachment into the motor unit.
To do this, proceed as described in chapter „Install/change an attachment".
• Turn the motor unit on (switch position „I" = continuous operation; switch position „II" = inching
mode as long as the switch is pressed).
• Hold the knife by the handle. Insert the blade into the slot (12) of the knife sharpener in a way
that the handle part is as close to the housing of the knife sharpener as possible.
Then pull the knife evenly towards you by exerting some pressure until the edge has pulled
out of the slot completely.
Do not use to much force to push the knife into the slot. Gentle pressure is sufficient.
• Now run the knife through the second slot (12) of the knife sharpener and proceed in the
same manner.
• Check whether the blade is ground as desired and repeat the grinding process as necessary.
• Then turn the motor unit off by the switch (2) (the switch is in central position „O" here).
b) Changing the sharpening stone
The sharpening stone may only be replaced by a specialist. You should not disas-
semble the knife sharpener yourself.
Grinder
a) Using the grinder
Install the grinder attachment into the motor unit.
To do this, proceed as described in chapter „Install/change an attachment".
• The support plate (5) can be fastened into the desired position by means of the locking
screw (4).
Depending on what you intend to grind, the desired angle that will be used for the grinding
operation can be adjusted here (a pair of scissors, for instance).
Make sure that the support plate is not in contact with the sharpening stone.
• Adjust the position of the transparent protective cover (3). It can be secured in place by
means of the locking screw (2).
• Turn the motor unit on (switch position „I" = continuous operation; switch position „II" = inching
mode as long as the switch is pressed).
We recommend using continuous operation, with regard to the grinder attachment
so that you can use both your hands to guide the tool that needs grinding.
• Press the tool for grinding slightly onto the sharpening stone and move the tool in uniform
movements back and forth, so that the cutting edge is ground evenly.
• Check whether the ground angle is correct and whether the tool is sufficiently sharpened.
Repeat the grinding process as necessary.
• Then turn the motor unit off by the switch (2) (the switch is in central position „O" here).
b) Changing the sharpening stone
The sharpening stone in the grinder will wear out during use. When you notice that
the sharpening performance decreases or is uneven, the stone has to be replaced.
In such cases, always use original spare parts.
Before changing the sharpening stone, turn off the motor unit and wait for the drive
to stand still. Then remove the attachment from the motor unit.
• Undo the three screws on the side using a suitable Phillips screwdriver and remove the cover
by lifting it upwards.
• Press the lock button (4) and undo the hex nut with an open-end wrench (size 14); turn it
counter-clockwise.
• Replace the sharpening stone and assemble the grinder in reverse order.
