When the Safety Device is Operating
If a problem persists even after performing the measures in "Sewing Machine Doesn't Run" in "Trouble Shooting",
the machine's safety device may be operating.
Symptom
The machine does not operate.
The indicator lamp blinked for a few seconds.
The machine stopped and will not operate.
The indicator lamp continuously blinks slowly.
✽ The machine will not operate for approximately 1 second immediately after the power is turned on or after
the foot controller pin jack is inserted or removed.

Needle is not attached

Upper thread tension is
too low.
Increase tension.

The machine is locked because the thread is tangled, etc. Turn off the power,
remove the tangled thread, and clean the machine. (page 26)
Foot controller replacement or machine repair is required. Contact your
authorized Brother dealer or the nearest Brother authorized service center.
Needle is bent, or tip is
dull.
Change needle.
