How to handle the petrol-driven devices
• Protect the device from hard shocks and
do not let it fall down. If the device has
been subjected to shocks, check imme-
diately whether fuel is leaking (danger of
fire and explosion!)
• Danger of poisoning due to exhaust
fumes! Do not start the motor or use the
product in enclosed spaces.
• Check the fuel system for leaks or defec-
tive parts on a regular basis.
• Always switch off the motor before trans-
porting, refuelling, cleaning and maintain-
ing.
For handling fuels
Fuels are flammable and explosive.
Minimise the risk of explosion and fire:
• Before refuelling, switch off the motor
and let it cool down.
• Smoking and naked flames are prohib-
ited while handling fuels.
• Only store and mix fuels in approved and
marked canisters.
• Seal fuel canisters before storing. Fuels
evaporate even at room temperature and
can collect on the floor in closed rooms
(risk of explosion).
• Start the device a few metres away from
where you have filled it up.
Fuels are toxic! They contain substances
that are highly toxic and can cause long-
term health damage. Heed the
precautions to stop these substances
from being absorbed into your body:
• Only top up outdoors or decant fuel in
well-ventilated rooms.
• Do not inhale fuel vapours.
• Avoid skin and eye contact.
• Wear gloves when decanting fuel.
• If fuel gets on your clothing, change your
clothing right away. Clean the garment
before wearing it again.
• Store fuels out of the reach of children.
If used improperly, fuels endanger the
environment:
• Fill up fuel carefully. Combustible materi-
als must not run into the soil or into the
sewer system.
• Fuel residues must be disposed of prop-
erly. Never dispose of them with house-
hold waste.
• Fuels have a limited shelf-life. Only buy
quantities that will be used within a few
months.
Safety notes for lawn mowers
• Always hold the device tightly with both
hands.
• Do not work in the vicinity of garden
ponds or swimming pools.
• Observe the regional regulations with
regard to quiet periods.
• Pay attention when walking backwards.
Danger of stumbling!
• Risk of poisoning caused by exhaust
gases! Do not start the motor or use the
device in closed spaces.
• Never leave the machine unattended with
the motor running.
• Check the fuel system regularly for leaks
or defective parts.
• When transporting or when filling the
tank, always switch the motor off.
• Spilt fuel should always be removed
immediately and carefully.
Training
• Read the operating instructions carefully.
Make sure that you are familiar with the
adjustment elements and the correct use
of the machine.
• Never allow children or other people who
are not familiar with the operating instruc-
tions to operate the lawn mower.
Regional legislation may specify the min-
imum permitted age of the user.
• Never mow when other people, particu-
larly children, or animals are in the vicin-
ity.
• Remember that the operator or user is
responsible for accidents involving other
people or their property.
Preparation
• When operating the machine, always
wear sturdy shoes and long trousers.
Never operate the machine with bare feet
or in light-weight sandals. Do not wear
loose fitting clothes or clothes with hang-
ing cords or belts.
• Check the area you wish to mow, before
you do so, and remove all objects that
may be caught and thrown up by the
machine.
• Before using, carry out a visual check to
make sure that the cutting blades, fixing
bolts and the cutting unit as a whole are
not worn or damaged. In order to avoid
imbalance, worn or damaged cutting
blades and fixing bolts may only be
replace in sets. Worn or damaged infor-
mation labels must be replaced.
