6. Startup and Commissioning
6.3 Refrigerant Charging (for up to 32.5 ft. / 10 m)
1. Pull a vacuum down to at least 200 microns (25 Pa) for 90 minutes.
2. Ensure there are no leaks.
3. Charge the liquid line with approximately 9.9 lb. (4.5 kg) for SRCOOLDXRW12 or 15 lb. (7 kg) for SRCOOLDXRW25
of R-410A refrigerant.
4. Start the unit and engage the compressor by setting a low initial temperature setpoint.
5. Check the sight glass refrigerant level.
6. Add refrigerant, approaching 11 lb. (5 kg) for SRCOOLDXRW12 or 17.6 lb. (8 kg) for SRCOOLDXRW25 of total
charge, stopping when the sight glass turns clear.
7. Leave the unit and compressor running for 3 minutes; check sight glass and ensure it is clear.
8. Observe the sub-cooling data on the user interface. Ensure it is around 11°F (6°C); up to 18°F (10°C) is okay.
9. Check pressures on the user interface:
a. Low pressure: shall be 9-10 bar, depending on room temperature.
b. High pressure: shall be around 26 bar. A range of 22-30 is okay, depending on the outdoor temperature.
10. Check evaporation temperature: a range of 41° to 53°F (5° to 12°C) is okay. (If the return air temperature is low, such
as 66°F (19°C), evaporation temperature will be on the low side; if the return air temperature is high, the evaporation
temperature will also be on the high side.)
11. Check the condensing temperature: if the outdoor temperature is 95°F (35°C) or higher, ensure the condensing
temperature is not over 122°F (50°C).
6.4 Post-Startup Information
Contact your service organization for official post-startup checklist
Observe any noises and check tightness of connections. Check for proper sizing and installation (including hangers
and supports) of the refrigerant lines, according to the manual. Check for missing panels or other items and ensure
professional appearance for the customer.
