INSTALLATION.
One of the most important features of the pan & tilt units EXPT series is that all the external wiring
(power cables and camera control cables) has been eliminated; this solution makes the installation and the
maintenance of the device very easy. Only one multiconductors cable, supplied as accessory, comes out
from the base of the device, by means of the relevant cable gland. The 7.5 meter cable is supplied with the
pan & tilt unit already connected.
The two flanges of the camera housing and the three flanges of the central body are fitted with 12 screws
each, while the two flanges of the base body are provided with 6 screws each; all screws are supplied with
hexagonal cavity and M6 thread. Besides, each flange is fitted with 3 screws, located at 120° each other
(also supplied with hexagonal cavity, but with M4 thread) for facilitating the flange extraction. In fact, after
having screwed off the screws with M6 thread, it is necessary to screw on the 3 screws with M4 thread (one
turn at a time, in rotation) for easily extracting the flange.
The setting of the potentiometers for the electronic limit stops of the automatic cyclic movement is carried
out after having extracted the flange of the base body provided without cable gland, to which it is fixed the
printed circuit board where the two potentiometers RV1 and RV2 are installed. Extracting this flange, and
holding as reference it turned towards the installer, the potentiometer RV1 located on the right side of the
printed circuit board (pan angle) could be used for setting the angle desired for the automatic horizontal
rotation, while the potentiometer RV2 located on the left side of printed circuit board (auto pan position) could
be used for setting the positioning of the angle (previously set through the potentiometer RV1) in the desired
zone of the 360° range, turning it clockwise or counterclockwise until to obtain the desired positioning. As
concerns the potentiometer RV1, turning it completely counterclockwise the minimum angle (30°) is set,
while turning it completely clockwise the maximum angle (270°) is set. In order to set intermediate values, it
will be necessary turn it partially clockwise or counterclockwise until to obtain the desired angles.
For the accessibility to the input control cable connections (soldered), it is instead necessary to extract
the flange of the base body provided with cable gland. From these connections two small coiled cables come
out, which are exploited for interconnecting the control cable to the terminal strip of the central body and to
that one of the camera housing respectively. Being the control cable already connected, it is not necessary
to carry out these connections during the installation, but the accessibility is available only for maintenance
service.
For installing the videocamera it is necessary to extract the closing flange of the housing, to which it is
connected the videocamera fixing board with relevant terminal strip. This board is supported by two guides
fixed to the housing; if the closing flange is extracted, the board slides on the guides, so making very easy
the installation and relevant connection of the videocamera and its accessories. It is recommended to
insulate the camera from its relevant supporting board, using the suitable insulated separators included in
the supply.
For installing the pan & tilt unit can be used either the suitable bracket (for wall mounting, to be installed
through 4 screws with diameter 3 0 mm) or the supporting disc of the base body (for pole mounting, provided
with 4 holes with diameter 8.5 mm and located at 90° each other). For allowing the correct rotation of the pan
5 tilt unit, on the bottom flange of the central body and on the support disc of the base body, two red marks
are shown, vertically aligned. After having installed the device, these marks should be turned towards the
installer, as they are the installation reference for the correct horizontal rotation of +180°.
