WARNING – To reduce the risk of severe injury or death
1. Read and follow all instructions.
2. Never let children operate, or play with door controls. Keep remote control away
from children.
3. Always keep moving door in sight and away from people and objects until it is
completely closed. No one should cross the path of the moving door.
WARNING – For continued protection against fire, replace only with the same type
and rating of fuse.
WARNING – To prevent entrapment, do not start door downward unless doorway
is clear.
Installation, Operating and Safety Instructions – Instructions for installation and use of
this product are provided by the manufacturer as required by the standard.
–– IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ––
The installation instructions shall include the following or equivalent text.
Warning – To reduce the risk of severe injury or death:
1. READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
2. Install only on a properly balanced garage door. An improperly balanced door has
the potential to inflict severe injury. Have a qualified service person make repairs
to cables, spring assemblies, and other hardware before installing the opener.
3. Remove all ropes and remove or make inoperative all locks connected to the ga-
rage door before installing opener.
4. Where possible, install the door opener 7 feet (2.13 m) or more above the floor.
For products having an emergency release, mount the emergency release 6 feet
(1.83 m) above the floor.
5. Do not connect the opener to source of power until instructed to do so.
6. Locate the control button: (a) within sight of door, (b) at a minimum height of 5
feet (1,52 m) so small children are not able to reach it, and (c) away from all mov-
ing parts of the door.
7. Install the Entrapment Warning Label next to the control button in a prominent lo-
cation. Install the Emergency Release Marking. Attach the marking on or next to
the emergency release.
8. After installing the opener, the door must reverse when it contacts a 1-1/2 inch
(25.4 - 12.7 mm) high object (or a 2 by 4 board laid flat) on the floor.

The user instructions shall include the following or equivalent text.

is completely closed. NO ONE SHOULD CROSS THE PATH OF THE MOVING
DOOR.
4. NEVER GO UNDER A STOPPED, PARTIALLY OPEN DOOR.
5. Test door opener monthly. The garage door MUST reverse on contact with a
1-1/2 inch (25.4 - 12.7 mm) high object (or a 2 by 4 board laid flat) on the floor.
After adjusting either the force or the limit of travel, retest the door opener. Failure
to adjust the opener properly increases the risk of severe injury or death.
6. For products having an emergency release, when possible, use the emergency
release only when the door is closed. Use caution when using this release with
the door open. Weak or broken springs are capable of increasing the rate of door
closure and increasing the risk of severe injury or death.

properly balanced barrier increases the risk of severe injury or death. Have a quali-

Industrial and commercial vehicular doors and door operators
• A door shall be provided with an adjustable control mechanism and specific in-
structions describing that adjustment of the control mechanism that allows satis-
factory operation of the door. The instructions shall also indicate the need for pe-
riodic checking of the control mechanism.
• A door operator that is to be sold without the door shall be provided with instruc-
tions in the instruction manual specifying the methods of wiring required to main-
tain operation in accordance with 30.1.1.
• Clear instructions for the installation of a reversing-edge switch shall be provided
with the operator.

• Vehicular Slide-Gate Operator (or system) - A vehicular gate operator (or system)
that controls a gate which slides in a horizontal direction that is intended for use
for vehicular entrance or exit to a drive, parking lot, or the like.
• Gate - A moving barrier such as a sliding, swinging, raising, lowering, rolling, or
like barrier that is a stand-alone passage barrier or is that portion of a wall or fence
system that controls entrance and/or egress by persons or vehicles and completes
the perimeter of a defined area.
• Residential Vehicular Gate Operator - Class I - A vehicular gate operator (or sys-
tem) intended for use in a home of one to four single family dwelling, or a garage
or parking area associated therewith.
• Commercial / General Access Vehicular Gate Operator - Class II - A vehicular gate
operator (or system) intended for use in a commercial location or building such as
a multi-family housing unit (five or more single family units), hotel, garages, retail
store, or other buildings servicing the general public.
• Commercial / General Access Vehicular Gate Operator - Class III - A vehicular gate
operator (or system) intended for use in a industrial location, loading dock area, or
other location not intended to service the general public.
• Commercial / General Access Vehicular Gate Operator - Class IV - A vehicular gate
operator (or system) intended for use in a guarded industrial location or buildings
such as airport security area or other restricted access locations not servicing the
general public, in which unauthorized access is prevented via supervision by se-
curity personnel.

4.11 - Alarm siren connection (M3BAR/V1, M5BAR/V1, M7BAR/V1 and LBAR/
V1 only)
Type V1 (120V; 50/60Hz) barriers have an integral alarm siren that sounds when the
amperometric force limiter is tripped two times during a single manoeuvre. If this hap-
pens the system stops accepting user commands; the siren continues to sound for
5 minutes (and then shuts off), but the barrier remains blocked. To release the bar-
rier press the control unit's STOP button, or actuate the device (if present) connect-
ed to the control unit's STOP input (fig. 41, as reported in the product instructions).
The siren is connected to control unit output OUT2 (fig. 41, as reported in the prod-
uct instructions), and this output is factory configured to operate the siren. To com-
pletely deactivate the siren, disconnect it from OUT2; the output can then be repro-
grammed for other applications.
4.12 - Cooling fan connection (M3BARHF only)
The M3BARHF barrier control unit has an integral cooling fan. The fan starts running
when the barrier is operated and remains on for 1 minute after the end of the ma-
noeuvre. The fan is connected to control unit output OUT3 (fig. 41, as reported in
the product instructions), and this output is factory configured to operate the fan. To
completely deactivate the fan, disconnect it from OUT3; the output can then be re-
programmed for other applications.
