Risk of injury by an unstable stand of the
planer/thicknesser: When working long
stock use suitable supports on both sides
of the machine. Avoid adverse body posi-
tions. Ensure firm footing, and keep your
balance at all times.
Hazard to other persons in the work area:
keep bystanders, particularly children, out
of the danger zone.
Risk of injury by touching the rotating cut-
terblock: Always keep your hands well
clear of the cutterblock. Switch machine
off if it is not used.
Risk of injury by cuts with cutterblock at
standstill: Wear gloves when changing
planer knives.
Hazard generated by environmental influ-
ences:
do not operate the planer/thicknesser in
rain or damp environment. Ensure suffi-
cient lighting. Do not operate the planer/
thicknesser near inflammable liquids or
gases.
Hazard generated by overloading:
Use the planer/thicknesser only within its
limits. Use planer/thicknesser only as
specified.
Risk of injury by machine faults:
Check the planer/thicknesser for damage
before any use. Do not operate the
machine with a damaged part. Replace
dull planer knives at once. Risk of injury by
kickback, if a dull knife gets caught in the
workpiece's surface.
Prior to any starting of the machine ensure
that there are no objects (e.g. tools) in the
machine.
Use personal protection gear:
dust respirator;
hearing protection;
safety glasses.

Anti-kickback lock

The anti-kickback lock (22) prevents the workpiece
from being thrown back against the operator by the
rotating cutterblock.
All fingers of the anti-kickback lock must end in
a point on the underside.
All anti-kickback fingers must automatically
return to their rest position (downwards).
Cutterblock guard extrusion

The cutterblock guard extrusion (23) prevents the
rotating cutterblock from being touched from top
when surface planing.
After loosening the lock lever (24) the cutter-
block guard extrusion is adjusted to the work-
piece width.
With the setting lever (25) the cutterblock guard
extrusion is adjusted to the workpiece height.
For effective protection the cutterblock guard extru-
sion must always be set against the workpiece.
When guiding the workpiece the hands slide over
the cutterblock guard extrusion.
Chip chute

When thickness planing the chip chute (27) serves
as cutterblock guard. The chip chute is swung over
the cutterblock and secured in place with the two
