Troubleshooting
Incorrect operations are often mistaken for trouble and malfunctions. If you think there is something wrong with this component,
check the points below. Sometimes the trouble may originate from another component. Thus, also check the other electrical
appliances also in use.
If the trouble cannot be rectified even after checking the following items, contact your dealer or nearest PIONEER service center.
Disc playback related
Symptom
Can't play disc.
[Please disable External Sync setting] appears
in display and the CD/VCD disc is ejected.
[TV System selector error. External sync type
mismatch] appears in display and the disc is
ejected.
DVI related
Symptom
Playback disc images cannot be displayed as
DVI.
When DVI resolution is changed, images are
disturbed or do not display.
Noise occurs in DVI output images.
USB memory device related
Symptom
[NO USB MEMORY] is displayed when per-
forming load/save with USB memory device.
[Unsupported memory device] appears in the
display when connecting a USB memory de-
vice.
When saving to USB memory device, screen
displays [NO ENTRY AREA] or [NO CAPACITY].
No file displayed when loading from a USB
memory device.
File names are distorted/unreadable when load-
ing from USB memory.
Error occurs when performing load or save from/
to USB memory.

CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW discs that have not been finalized cannot be played.
DVD-R discs compliant with CPRM cannot be played. SECAM system discs
cannot be played. Some CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW discs may not be playable
if recording quality is poor.
Non-DVD discs cannot be played if the external sync function is set to ON.
Go to the ADV. SETUP menu and confirm that [EXTERNAL SYNC] is set
to [OFF].
The TV mode (NTSC/PAL) you are trying to apply external sync to does not
agree with the mode of the DVD you are trying to play. Go to the ADV. SETUP
menu and set [EXTERNAL SYNC] to [OFF], or adjust the proper TV mode.
Copyright-protected discs cannot be played on DVI displays that do not
support HDCP.
Your DVI display may not support the display resolution you have set. Consult
the operation instructions for your display. Holding the remote control unit's
[0] number button depressed for 5 or more seconds will reset the resolution
to the value initially set when the display was first connected to the player.
Also, depending on the display, inputting a signal of non-supported resolu-
tion may cause the unit to stop responding until the display's power is
disconnected and reconnected.
Using an excessively long cable may result in the generation of noise; in
this event, change to a shorter cable.
USB memory device is not detected properly.
Reinsert USB memory device and try again.
This memory device is not supported by the DVD-V8000. In general, com-
mercially marketed USB memory devices are manufactured to common
specifications and can be used with the DVD-V8000, but operating com-
patibility has not been confirmed for all devices available on the market,
with the result that it is possible some such devices may not be compatible
with the DVD-V8000.
USB memory device is full; no more files can be written.
Use computer to delete unnecessary files.
File extension may be mistaken. Files that can be displayed include LOAD
SETUP files (extension "set") and LOAD COMMAND STACK files (exten-
sion "cmd").
Were two-byte characters used in the file name?
Two-byte characters cannot be displayed.
Is write-prevent enabled for the USB memory device?
Try reinserting the USB memory device and try again.
If error reoccurs, use the computer to reformat the memory using FAT file
system.
