Installing the electrical kit
1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove following covers and panelling if necessary:
In the boot

Boot floor cover
-
Tail plate covering
-
Covering of the right side of the boot
-
From the tail plate
•
Cover for the cable leadthrough on the right side

3. Pull the socket end of the wire set from the interior to the outside through the cable
leadthrough and lay it to the socket retaining plate (Fig. 1/1).
4. Insert the ruber bushing into the cable leadthrough (Fig. 1/2).

5. 7-pin: Pull on the enclosed socket seal for side or axial wire branches.
6. 7-pin: Connect the wire in accordance with the socket wiring plan on the socket housing
(Fig. 1/1) and place the socket seal on the socket.
7. Affix the socket on the retaining plate (Fig. 1/1) with the screws provided.
8. Secure the wire lane along the trailer hitch with cable binders.
Connecting the trailer control module
Note
In case an SAM-low is installed in the rear of the vehicle, it needs to be exchanged for a
•
higher-quality, trailer compatible SAM. Purchase from Daimer automotive supply stores.
9. Fasten the trailer control unit (Fig. 1/5) with velcro tape in the right side of the boot.
10. Place the 12- and 16-pin plugs onto the trailer control module (Fig. 1/5).
11. Use the ring eyelet to attach the brown wire to the vehicle's earthing point (Fig. 1/6) in the rear
right corner.
12. Release the blue 28-pin plug (Fig. 1/3) on the SAM control unit rear and remove the contact
holder.
13. Plug the brown wire into chamber 9 and the brown/red wire into chamber 10 from the
retrofitted wire set.
14. Lock the contact holder in the blue 28-pin plug and insert the plug into the Sam control unit
(Fig. 1/3).
15. If the blue 28-pin plug is not on the Sam control unit, connect the brown and brown/red wires
with the appropriate vehicle's CAN-Bus wires (brown and brown/red) properly and with the
correct colour code.
