3.- INSTRUCTIONS USE
Before doing anything with your cooker, ensure you
know something about how to maintain it. Chapter 4
describes some useful tips.
Do not wood washed ashore from the sea as fuel. The
salt contained in it will react in the combustion pro-
cess and release acid that will damage the iron and
steel.
Before lighting the cooker, make sure the smoke con-
duit is perfectly clean so as to ensure a good air intake.
Never fill the fireplace completely with fuel or leave
the ashtray door open, it can cause irreparable damage
to the appliance.
Do not bring firewood or charcoal close to the loading
door, to avoid damage to the front enamel.
Lighting for the first time
We recommend the first lighting be done with a slow
flame during 3 or 4 hours to stabilise the different piec-
es and prevent any potential breakages.
When lighting the Cooker, close the fireplace door,
open the primary air valve by turning the control locat-
ed between the fireplace door and the ashtray in an
anti-clockwise direction (FIG. 7). To do this, you have a
tool, except in the SAJA models. Also, open the direct
pull valve by pulling the knob above the oven door out-
wards (FIG. 8).
Upon achieving normal operation, close the direct pull
valve by taking the handle back to its normal position.

Primary air valve
Regulate the air intake of your cooker with the primary
air valve (FIG. 7). Note that too much air intake, in ad-
dition to leading to an inadequate consumption of
wood, will make the worktop plate reach excessive
temperatures.
Double combustion and deflector
Your cooker has a double combustion system that dras-
tically reduces pollutant emissions and improves its
efficiency by reducing wood consumption. For maxi-
mum performance, do not fill the firebox above the
secondary air holes at the rear of the firebox.
You can remove the deflector for maintenance. To do
this, remove the front support plate by lifting the up-
per oven bricks that hold it in place slightly and pulling
the defector out. In the heated version, the deflector is
screwed to the top of the heater.
The recommended air intake for the chimney is 20 Pa.
Always control the temperature of the cooker with
the thermometer situated on the door. If the temper-
ature reaches 250ºC, do not add more fuel and close
the primary air valve.
An excessive heating of the cooker, detected by a
temperature of the oven exceeding 300ºC, can lead to
a deterioration of the worktop.
In the annual cleaning, or when required, check the
condition of the under-worktop in the VITRO-CERAMIC
version. Replace it, if necessary. This under-worktop
rests on the framework and its replacement is really
simple.
Food will cook faster if the pots, pans and other uten-
sils have perfectly flat bottoms
