HEADSET AND NOISE ATTENUATING HEARING PROTECTOR
This user instruction applies to following models
Headband-style hearing protection:
49002-001 - AM/FM Radio, Level Dependent, Bluetooth®
Helmet/Cap mounted hearing protection:
49102-001 - AM/FM Radio, Level Dependent, Bluetooth®
Functions and user instructions vary between models. Follow the instructions that applies to your
model.
The headset combines the functions AM/FM Radio, level dependent "active listening" and wireless
communication via mobile phone (or other units) and music streaming from (MP3-players, mobile phones,
PC's etc.) units that are compatible with Bluetooth® and A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). The
headset's noise suppressed boom microphone provides clear communication even at high noise levels.
Carefully read these user instructions to attain the greatest possible benefits from your Hellberg
product.
• To achieve optimal comfort and best effect from this hearing protector, you must use, maintain and
adjust the protector according to the following instructions.
• Earmuffs, and in particular cushions, may deteriorate with use and should be examined at frequent
intervals for cracking and leakage.
• Use of perspiration/hygienic protection over the sealing rings can reduce the hearing protector's noise
attenuation properties.
• Certain chemical substances can have a destructive effect on this product. More information is
available from the manufacturer.
• The hearing protector's noise attenuating properties can dramatically decrease with usage of for
example, thick eyeglass frames, ski masks/balaclavas, etc. Brush away all hair from the ears and
place the earmuffs over the ears so that they fit comfortably and snugly. Ensure that the ears are
completely enclosed by the earmuffs and that you have even pressure around the ears.
Headband (pic. C)
• Adjust the protector to its largest size and put it on your head.
• Adjust the band so that the protector rests lightly against the crown of your head.
Helmet/Cap mount (pic. D)
• Push the helmet mount into the helmet's slot attachment until it snaps into place.
• Place the earmuffs over the ears and press inwards until you hear a click. Adjust the earmuffs so that
the helmet fits comfortably on your head.
Care
Clean with mild soap. You must be sure that the detergent you use does not irritate the skin. The hearing
protector must be stored dry and clean, e.g. in its original packaging. Do not dip the product in water!
Warning!
If the instructions above are not followed, the noise attenuation could drastically decrease.
The hearing protector must always be used in noisy environments to provide full protection effect!
Only 100% wear time provides full protection.
Information required by E.P.A. (US)
The level of noise entering a person's ear, when hearing protector is worn as directed, is closely approximated by
the difference between the A weighted environmental noise level and the NRR.
Example:
1. The environmental noise level as measured at the ear is 92 dBA.
2. The NRR is 25 decibels (dB).
3. The level of noise entering the ear is approximately equal to 67 dB.
Caution
For noise environments dominated by frequencies below 500 Hz the C-weighted environmental noise level shall
be used.
Warning
Improper fit of this device will reduce its effectiveness in attenuating noise. Although hearing protectors can be
recommended for protection against the harmful effects of impulsive noise, the noise reduction rating (NRR) is
based on the attenuation of continuous noise and may not be accurate indicator of the protection attainable against
impulsive noise such as gunfire.
