STEP 27: Install the adjustable trunk support rod extending from the spare tire well area to the trunk lid.
WARNING: If the adjustable support rod is not securely installed, the trunk lid can fall when the torsion bars are removed and cause
severe injury to the installer and/or damage to the vehicle.
STEP 28: Locate the bracket clip at the center of the trunk and open it by releasing the tab in the front and then swinging the bracket
rearward to open.
NOTE: Take notice of the order of the torsion bars in the bracket before proceeding.
STEP 29: CAUTION: The next few steps must be performed carefully with the specified torsion bar removal tool. Failure to use the proper
tool can result in severe injuries and/or damage to the vehicle. Due to this, it is strongly recommended that this product be installed by a
Subaru retailer.
Left Hand (LH) Torsion Bar Removal: With the special tool securely in place and safety pin engaged, rotate tool downward to apply tension
to the LH torsion bar on the right-hand side of the vehicle.
