Connection
to a computer
• Wait until the operating system is completely loaded.
• Connect the multimedia player to a free USB-2.0 port of your computer via the provided USB
cable.
• Windows ME, XP, 2000, Vista:
The drivers required for the multimedia player are included in the operating system. When
the multimedia player is connected to your computer, it is automatically recognised as a
removable drive.
• Windows 98SE:
When these operating instructions where issued, the required driver was in the "C11
Software/Driver" folder. Please note that the folder names of new CD versions might be
different. A driver for Windows 98SE might not be included anymore.
• The multimedia player works like a USB stick or an external USB drive. Windows Explorer
lists a new drive onto which multimedia files (images, MP3 files, videos) can be copied.
• Before disconnecting the multimedia player from your computer, wait until all file transfers
are complete.
There is a little arrow symbol ("Safely remove hardware") in the Windows menu bar. This
function serves to tell Windows that you want to disconnect the device. All open files are
closed and Windows informs you when the device can be removed.
If you disconnect the USB connection during operation, the file system of the
multimedia player can be corrupted, e.g. data is no longer listed in the table of
contents or files cannot be played properly any more.
• While the multimedia player is connected to a computer, the buttons and the on/off switch
are disabled.
The charging process starts automatically if the battery is not already fully charged. See the
chapters "Notes on rechargeable batteries" and "Charging the rechargeable battery".
