Connection
to the computer
• The drivers for the Multimedia Player are contained in the operating system of Windows ME,
XP Vista and 2000. It is detected automatically.
• With Windows 98SE the drivers must be installed first and a restart must be carried out.
• Wait until the operating system has booted completely and then connect the Multimedia
Player via the USB cable, contained in the delivery, to a free USB2.0 port on your computer.
• Windows detects the new hardware and completes the driver installation. Wait a moment
until the installation is finished.
• Now the multimedia player works like a USB stick or an external USB drive. A new drive
appears in the Windows file explorer, which can be filled with multimedia files (images, MP3
files, videos).
• Prior to disconnecting the multimedia player from the computer, wait until all file transfers are
complete.
There is a little arrow symbol ("Safely remove hardware") in the Windows menu bar. This
function serves to tell Windows that you want to disconnect the device. Afterwards, all open
files are closed. Windows tells you afterwards that you can remove the device.
If you simply disconnect the USB connection in running operation, this may
lead to errors in the multimedia player's file system, e.g. data no longer appears
in the content tree or cannot be played back properly.
• If the Multimedia Player is connected to a computer, the buttons do not work.
The charge process is started automatically if the accumulator is not fully charged. Please
refer to the chapter "Rechargeable battery instructions" and "Charging rechargeable
batteries".
