Charging the
rechargeable battery
• The built-in rechargeable battery is charged via USB.
• When the battery is completely exhausted, the charging process may take several hours.
As described above, the battery can be charged regardless of the battery state.
Due to the used recharging technology, it is not necessary to discharge the
rechargeable battery before charging it. There is no memory effect. The
charging electronics makes sure that the battery does not get over-charged.
Charging stops when the battery is fully charged.
• If the battery is empty, the display will remain blank when the device is switched on (on/off
switch in the "ON" position).
When the device shuts down after showing a "Battery empty" message, the battery is empty
as well.
• Depending on your computer's mainboard, the USB ports are turned off when you turn off
the computer via the front button (computer in standby mode).
In this case, the charging process is interrupted. The same applies when the computer is
switched off via the power switch.
Instead of leaving the computer switched on to maintain the charging process, you can also
use a USB hub with a separate power supply. Such a hub usually remains activated when
the computer is switched off.
Only use the provided USB cable to charge the multimedia player via a USB
port on your computer or a USB hub. Otherwise the charging electronics and
consequently the multimedia player will be damaged. There is also the risk of
fire or explosion by the built-in battery!
See the chapters "Safety instructions" and "Notes on rechargeable batteries".
