2) To connect audio units with line level output
(e . g . MP3 / CD player, radio), use the following
jacks:
RCA jacks LINE 3 and LINE 4
6 .3 mm jacks MIC 2 / LINE 1 and MIC 3 / LINE 2
Mono units can be directly connected; for
stereo units, use a stereo/mono adapter
(e . g . SMC-1) . When connecting, set the DIP
switches No . 1 and No . 2 to the position ON
(also see table) .
3) For important (emergency) announce-
ments, use the input TEL INPUT . It is possible
to connect, for example, a telephone system
with line level output to this input .
Note: As soon as a signal is available at this input, all
other signals will be muted, even when the control
TEL is in the position "0" . Announcements via the
input MIC 1, however, can be heard and will mute
the signal of the input TEL INPUT if DIP switch No . 4
is in the position OFF .
4) Connect an FM antenna to the jack FM AN-
TENNA . With good reception conditions, the
wire antenna provided can be used .
3.2 Outputs
1) Speakers: Either connect 100 V or 70 V
speakers to the terminals "100V" or "70V"
and "COM" (page 2, fig . 1) . The load
by the speakers must not exceed the power

rating of the amplifier (
ifications"); otherwise, the protective circuit
will interrupt the connection to the speaker
terminals .
Or connect a speaker or a speaker group to
the terminals "4 Ω", "8 Ω" or "16 Ω" and
"COM" . The total impedance of the speak-
ers must not fall below the value indicated
at the terminal used . Figure 2 on page 2
shows various ways to observe the minimum
impedance . There are, however, also other
possibilities .
2) At the RCA jacks OUTPUT 1 and 2, the mixed
signal is available which is also reproduced
via the speakers . Use the control MASTER to
adjust the volume of the signal OUTPUT 1;
this control will not have any effect on the
volume of the signal OUTPUT 2 . The jacks can
also be used, for example, for additional PA
amplifiers if more speakers are required than
the PA-8xxDMP can handle .
3) The output MOH OUTPUT (music on hold) is
able to provide, for example, music on hold
for a telephone system. The mixed signal is
also available at this output, however, with-
out the announcements of input MIC 1 . The
control MASTER will not have any effect on
the volume .
3.3 Power supply
For power supply, either connect the jack "230 V"
to a mains socket (230 V/ 50 Hz) using the mains
cable provided or, for mobile applications (e . g .
in a caravan), connect the terminals "24 V⎓"
to a 24 V DC voltage source (power rating see
"Specifications") . Always observe the correct
polarity of the positive and negative terminals!
