3.2.1
Due consideration should be given to the local installation regulations relating to intrinsically
safe electrical equipment.
3.2.2
It should be confirmed that the maximum permitted connection values, with regard to
capacity and inductance of the intrinsically safe circuit involved, are not exceeded.
For the characteristic values of the intrinsically safe circuits reference shall be made to the
instruction manual of the manufacturer.
3.2.3
Always use the shielded (blue) instrumentation cable.
3.2.4
Whenever possible, cables for general use should be physically kept apart from those used
for Exi applications.
4.
Special instructions for equipment designed for environments in which a dust explosion
hazard is present in accordance with EN 60079-31:
4.1
Seals and gaskets should be undamaged.
4.2
Any threads and/ or cable glands not used must be sealed by means of blind plugs certified
for dust explosions ( in compliance with the apparatus category and according to the last
edition of the standards).
4.3
When exchanging assembled cable glands, ensure that cable glands certified for dust
explosions are used ( in compliance with the apparatus category and according to the last
edition of the standards).
4.4
The values of tension and power shall not exceed those indicated on the tag plate.
4.5
A closed box must guarantee at least IP66.
4.6
To prevent any dust deposits on the surfaces, the user must regularly clean the apparatuses.
4.7
Use of the device is only allowed when its maximum surface temperature is less than :
2/3 of the min. dust cloud ignition temperature.

Installation
5.1
Strip the wires to the stated (stripping) length as instructed by the terminal manufacturer.
5.2
Flexible wires may be provided with wire ferrules.
Crimp these wire ferrules using a crimping tool and check that these comply with the
requirements of DIN 46228 Part 4. The length of these ferrules must comply with the stated
stripping length of the wire.
5.3
The distance between the wire insulation and the metal of the connection point must not
exceed 1 mm.
5.4
Feed this wire into the connection point until the very end.
5.5
Turn the screw of the connection point using a suitable tool and apply the stated torque.
5.6
All screws must be tightened, even those of any unused connection points.
5.7
Even when the wires are fixed to the connection terminals, one must ensure compliance with
the clearance and creepage requirements laid down in the above standards.
5.8
Refer to page 15.
