Installation and maintenance instructions:
1.
Special User Instructions (warning on label):
1.1
Junction boxes equipped with cable glands of low impact resistance (warning on the Ex label:
WARNING – LOW IMPACT RESISTANCE (MANUAL)) must only be installed in areas with a low
risk of impact forces (4J) unless these cable glands are mechanically protected against higher
impact forces (7J).
1.2
Junction boxes equipped with cable glands and matching blanking plugs (warning on the Ex
label: WARNING – LOW IMPACT RESISTANCE (MANUAL)) must only be installed in areas with
a low risk of impact forces (4J) unless these cable glands are mechanically protected against
higher impact forces (7J).
1.3
The junction box must be cleaned with a damp cloth. This is to prevent the risk of the Ex label
and any tag plates becoming electrostatically charged (warning on the Ex label: WARNING –
POTENTIAL ELECTROSTATIC CHARGING HAZARD (MANUAL)).
1.4
Junction boxes designed for an ambient temperature > 40°C, marked with a temperature
class T5/T4, will feature an additional warning on the Ex label: WARNING – SPECIAL CABLE
REQUIRED (MANUAL).
In this case, the installer/user must select cables suitable for a temperature of minimum the
ambient temperature increased by 40°C. These same requirements also apply to the cable
glands/plugs provided or replaced by the user.
2.
General instructions for equipment specially designed for environments in which a gas or
dust explosion hazard is present:
2.1
Ensure strict compliance with the information displayed on the type and hazard warning
plates and any 'special conditions' in the certificate.
2.2
The equipment must only be used in accordance with the category, the type of protection,
the gas/dust group, the temperature class/max. surface temperature, the ambient
temperature and the IP grade for which it has been certified.
2.3
The junction box must be installed in such a way as to prevent any static electricity charge.
2.4
If the user installs or changes cable glands/plugs/breathers themselves, then these must
have a full ATEX certificate based on the latest standards in force and comply with the
category, the type of protection, the gas/dust group, the temperature class/max. surface
temperature, the ambient temperature, the IP grade, etc., and must be installed in
accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
2.5
Plastic cable glands/plugs with a metric screw thread (connection) and min. tolerance 6H (ISO
965-1) must always be used in conjunction with an original external gasket as laid down in
the certificate of the respective cable gland/plug and selected based on the temperature
class and the ambient temperature, in order to guarantee the IP grade (if applicable: identical
obligation for NPT cable glands/plugs).
2.6
Metal cable glands and plugs must always be used in conjunction with an original external
gasket as described in the certificate of the respective cable gland/plug and selected based
on the temperature class and the ambient temperature in order to guarantee the IP grade.
2.7
Metal cable glands and plugs must also always be used in conjunction with an original,
internal offshore YSEBAERT plate for earthing purposes. They must be secured using a metal
lock nut.
2.8
Junction boxes equipped with cable glands of low impact resistance (warning on the Ex label:
WARNING – LOW IMPACT RESISTANCE (MANUAL)) must only be installed in areas with a low
risk of impact forces (4J) unless these cable glands are mechanically protected against higher
impact forces (7J).
2.9
Cable glands designed for flat cables, and with specially designed seals, must only be used in
conjunction with this specific cable type.
