2. Application and Function
• Ram set is a device to lift, push, spread and press of vehicle body panels as well as various component parts and assemblies.
• Never use for transporting and/or loading a vehicle. Lifting a vehicle with person inside is prohibited. Moving the jack with load is prohibited.
• No other use is permitted. For professional use only
• When offset attachments are used ,the rated capacity of the hydraulic system is reduced 50%.For each extension tube used the setup, the rated capacity
is reduced another 50%.When using two or more extension tubes together ,always position the shortest tube farthest away from the ram.(Fig. 01)
3. Inspection
• Open the packing and check that the equipment has not been damaged in transit and that you received all the parts specified in the shipping documents.
Before bringing the equipment into service conduct a visual inspection in order to determine leaks, damages, loose or missing parts.
4. Assembly
• Assemble the hose between the pump and ram. (Fig. 04)
• Determine the appropriate attachedment for your application;assemble the attachment to the ram pistion
• The pump may be operated in a horizontal position, or in a vertical position with the head pointing down as shown.(Fig. 02)
5. Startup and Operation
• Turn the pump's release valve clockwise to a closed position
damage the valve stem.
• Work the pump handle up and down to send oil to the ram through the hose ,causing the piston to extend to the work piece.
• To release pressure, slowly turn the realease valve counterclockwise.(The release speed is controlled by how fast the valve is opened)
• Always monitor the force applied to workpiece by using a load cell and indicator or you may monitor pressure developed in the ram by using an inline
pressure gauge.
• NEVER operate pump with release valve closed and disconnected from application. If operated in this condition, the hose and connections become
pressurized. This increases burst hazard. Damage may occur to pump and its components.
6. Maintenance
• Always store the repair kit in its case in a well protected area where it will not be exposed to inclement weather, corrosive air, abrasive dust, or any other
harmful elements. The repair kit must be cleaned of water, snow, sand, or grit before using.
• Inspect hoses and connections daily. Replace damaged components immediately with Rodcraft Replacement Parts only.
• Tighten connections as needed. Use pipe thread sealing compound when servicing connections.
• Use only a good grade hydraulic oil (type HLP ISO 32) . Avoid mixing different types of fluid and Never use brake fluid, turbine oil, transmission fluid, motor
oil or glycerin. Improper fluid can cause premature failure of the ram and the potential for sudden and immediate loss of load.
• Every kit owner is responsible for keeping the kit label clean and readable. Use a mild soap solution to wash external surfaces of the kit but not any
moving hydraulic components.
7. Air in the hydraulic system
Air can accumulateed in the hydraulic system during the initial setup or after prolonged use, causing the ram to respond slowly or in an unstable manner.
To remove the air:
• Place the ram at a lower level than the pump, with the piston end pointing
• Extend and retract the ram several times without putting a load on the system.Air will be released into the pump reservoir.
• With the ram fully retracted ,the pump sitting level, and no pressure in the hydraulic system, remove the pump's filler screw.Fill the reservoir with approved
hydraulic fluid until the fluid level is within ½ inch(12.7mm) from the top of the reservoir.
8. Disposal
• The disposal of this equipment must be in accordance with the legislation the respective country.
• All damaged, strongly worn out or improperly functioning devices HAVE TO BE TAKEN OUT OF OPERATION.
The repair of the equipment should be performed only by qualified technical staff.
Use the equipment only for its intended use as described above, any other use is explicitly excluded! For injuries and damages resulting from
improper use, misuse or infringement of safety instructions, we accept no liability or warranty.
