Note: AX filters are for single use only
The filter should not be used on a second shift even if these maximum usage times are not exceeded. When changing
filters ensure that both filters are replaced simultaneously.
3M™ 6098 AXP3 NR Filter only
Limitations on the use of these filters may differ from one country to another but in the absence of any limitations in your
country the following should be applied.
a) Low boiling point organic compounds will be divided into four groups.
Group 1
Low boiling point organic vapours with a WEL (Workplace Exposure Limit) of less than or equal to 10
ppm or which have a short service life. Check local regulations for WEL in your country
Group 2
Low boiling point organic vapours with an WEL greater than 10 ppm.
Group 3
Low boiling point organic vapours where protection is provided by filters other than AX (e.g. B, E or K).
Group 4
Low boiling point organic vapours where no or insufficient protection is provided by gas filters
b) Against compounds of groups 1 and 2, AX filters complying with EN14387 can be used up to the maximum
concentrations shown in the table below or 20 x WEL, whichever is lower.
Group
Max Concentration (ppm)
Group 1
100 ppm
Group 2
500 ppm
Group 3
1000 ppm
Group 4
5000 ppm
c) Only new, unused filters from their original packaging should be fitted to your facepiece. During one 8 hour shift,
repeated use of an AX filter is permitted, provided the maximum usage time shown in the table above is not exceeded.
d) Use of AX filters against mixtures of low boiling point organic compounds or mixtures of low boiling point organic
compounds and other compounds is not permitted as one or more of these compounds may be desorbed.
e) AX filters may be used as A2 filters ONLY if no other low boiling point organic compound is present. A1 or A2 filters are
not to be used against low boiling point organic compounds.
