Malfunction
The cartridge doesn't fire
Insufficient nail stand-off

Possible cause
Not fully pressed against the work
surface.
Firing pin damaged.
Driving energy too high.
Wrong piston inserted.
The piston is worn.
Space between metal sheet and
profile.
Fastener driven into the rib of the
beam (possibly with shear break-
age).
Supporting material is too thick, or
the thickness has changed.
Fastener driving power is too low.
Excessive build-up of foreign mat-
ter on the fastening tool.
The piston is worn.
Fastening tool is damaged.
Wrong piston inserted.
The fastening tool was rammed
hard against the working surface.
Irregular, partly incomplete cycling.
Irregular driving energy.
The face of the piston is worn or
chipped (see the section headed
"Criteria for replacement of wear
parts").
Fastener driven into the rib of the
beam (possibly with shear break-
age).

Action to be taken
▶ Press the fastening tool fully
against the work surface and
then pull the trigger.
▶ Contact Hilti Service.
▶ Select the appropriate cartridge
power level for the application

▶ Use the correct equipment
configuration with compatible
piston and fastener.
▶ Replace the piston, stop ring
and friction ring.
▶ Avoid gaps between profile and
beam, or secure the beam on
the correct side.
▶ Check the piston; replace the
piston if necessary. Also check
for residues.
▶ Select the appropriate cartridge
power level for the application.

▶ Increase driving energy in
accordance with cartridge
recommendations or use a
more powerful cartridge.
