2.3 Safety instructions for assembly
● Make sure that the product is off before you assemble the
product and cutting attachment.
● Remove the spark plug before you assemble the product.
● Use approved protective gloves when you assemble the
product and cutting attachment.
● Make sure that the trimmer guard or the guard for the
saw blade is correct and firmly fitted.
● Attach the harness to the product to prevent injury to the
operator or others. Do not operate the product without
harness.
● The use of accessories not recommended by the
manufacturer can result in serious personal injury.
2.4 Safety instructions for operation
● Never use the product if it is changed or defective.
● Examine the product for damage, cracks, loose fasteners
or leakage. Never use the product if it is defective. Always
replace damaged or worn parts.
● Do not use the product without an approved and
correctly fitted trimmer guard or the guard for the saw
blade.
● Do not rely on that the trimmer guard or the guard for the
saw blade will provide adequate protection from
ricochets.
● Use approved protective boots with non-slip soles and
comfortable fit, tight-fitting clothes, protective glasses,
ear protection, protective helmet and vibration-damping
gloves. Wear a hairnet if you have long hair.
● Only operate the product in daylight, or in good artificial
lighting.
● Do not operate the product in ambient temperatures
below 10°C.
● Do not overreach. Keep a stable position of the feet and a
good balance at all times.
● Always hold the product on your right side.
● Hold a firm grip on the product with both hands when
you use the product. Hold the cutting attachment below
hip height. Do not operate with the cutting attachment
more than 75 cm above the ground.
● Look around the work area to make sure that no persons,
animals or objects have a negative effect on the safety of
the operation of the product.
● Examine the work area. Avoid or remove loose objects
that can eject or wind around the cutting attachment.

● Make sure that persons or animals keep a distance of a
minimum of 15 m during operation. Always look behind
you before you turn around with the product. Stop the
product immediately if a person or animal enters the 15 m
safety zone.
● Never start or run the engine in enclosed or poorly
ventilated areas - inhalation of exhaust fumes is harmful
and can result in unconsciousness and fatal injury.
● Always stop the engine and make sure that the cutting
equipment does not rotate before you remove material
that is wound around the blade or trimmer head. Stand in
operating position until the blade or trimmer head has
stopped completely.
● Take regular breaks during operation. Always maintain a
firm footing and good balance.
● Keep hands and your body away from the rotating parts.
● Do not touch the exhaust system or cylinder during
operation.
● Overexposure to vibration can lead to circulatory damage
or nerve damage in persons who have poor circulation.
Stop the operation immediately and speak to your
physician if you experience symptoms of overexposure to
vibration. Such symptoms include numbness, loss of
feeling, tingling, pricking, pain, loss of strength, changes
in skin colour or condition. These symptoms usually show
in the fingers, hands or wrists. The risk increases at low
temperatures.
● If the product vibrates excessively or makes abnormal
noise, it must be set to off position immediately and taken
to your authorized service center.
● If the product is used often and/or for long sessions, a
vibration-damping handle is needed.
2.4.1 Causes of kickback and ways to prevent it
● Kickback can occur when you use the clearing blade. If
the clearing blade comes into contact with solid objects.
● The product is then thrown rearward out of control
towards the user.
● Kickback can cause you to lose control of the product,
with a risk of fatal or serious personal injury. Do not rely
on the safety mechanisms on the product. Take suitable
precautions to prevent accidents and personal injury.
● Kickback occurs when the product is used incorrectly
and/or with the wrong work methods or in the wrong
conditions, and can be avoided as follows.
- Hold the product firmly with both hands and hold your
arms and body in a position that prevents kickback. Do
not let go of the product.
