Avoiding damage to materials, property and the device

■ Always place the device on a dry, level, fi rm and heat-resistant surface.
■ Maintain suffi cient clearance from other sources of heat such as hotplates or stoves
in order to avoid damage to the device.
■ Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, strong temperature fl uctuations,
direct sunlight or moisture.
■ Do not drop the device or allow it to be knocked violently.
■ Do not pull or carry the device by the mains cord. Always pull the plug, never the cord,
to remove the mains plug from the socket.
■ Only the accessory parts supplied by the manufacturer should be used. If accessory
parts which are not authorised by the manufacturer are used, all warranty and guar-
antee claims are void.
■ Never use the device with just one plate! Two plates must always be installed. If
only one plate is installed, the thermostat could malfunction as a result. The device
could overheat and short circuit resulting in damage to the device.
■ Only use heat-resistant utensils for placing foods on or removing them from the de-
vice. Keep metallic objects or other objects with sharp edges away from the device.
They may damage the coating of the plates. We recommend you use kitchen utensils
made of wood or plastic.
■ Do not insert foods packed in aluminium foil, cling wrap, plastic bags or similar in the
device.
■ Never spray cold water on the plates during or directly after using the device. This
could damage the coating!
■ Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device. They could
damage the surface.
Hygienic notes
■ There may be some production residues stuck to the device. To avoid health risks,
clean the individual plates thoroughly before fi rst use (see chapter "Cleaning and
storage").
■ It is possible that smoke and odour may be produced the fi rst time you use the de-
vice. This is normal when using new devices for the fi rst time and should disappear
once you have used the device a few times.
■ Clean the device and the plates after every use to prevent the build-up of germs.
■ Keep the device clean.
