A table saw is a circular blade mounted on a table. This assem-
bly may be equipped with a chassis for convenience of use.
According to the various models, blade diameters may vary affect-
ing cutting capacity. It is essential for cutting out wooden panels
(or derived products), plastic, for preparing cleats, form boards,
spars, etc., for dimensioning (i.e. cutting lengthwise). Thanks to its
tilting blade, it also allows angles to be cut up to 45°.
The table extensions allow larger panels to be cut.
Look for a machine whose cutting capacities are suited to the kind of work
you are doing. The size and quality of the table also have to be taken into ac-
count. An aluminium table, for example gives better slip of the piece to be cut.
To increase efficiency, always adjust the depth of the cut in order that the blade
extends beyond the thickness of the material by the height of one tooth.
The blade brake function, if your machine has one, allows the blade to be stop-
ped rapidly.
The tungsten carbide insert blades cut better and remain sharp for longer. Always
use a suitable blade that is in good condition and perfectly sharp.
the more teeth the blade has, the finer the cut. .
It is better to hook your machine up to a vacuum cleaner in order to collect as
much dust as possible
The lighting function, if your machine has one, makes it more comfortable to
work with in dark environments.
The laser, if your machine has one, produces a beam of light which shows you
where the blade will go.
The use of vices proves to be very useful for cutting long pieces.
To facilitate moving, some are provided with castors or folding chassis.
