Walk test
Caution:
Each detector should be walk tested before
commissioning the installation.
The wireless PIR provides a walk test mode for testing the
detector operation and coverage pattern. Use the following
instructions to walk test the detector.
1.
Slide the custom insert to the top (see Figure 2, item 1).
2.
Using a screwdriver, carefully turn the screw to the left to
open the detector (see Figure 11, item 1).
3.
Create a tamper event by removing the device from its
mounting plate (Figure 11, item 2).
4.
Place the detector back on the mounting plate and turn the
screw to the right (Figure 11, item 3).
5.
Place back the custom insert at the top.
When the device is mounted again, the detector enters walk
test mode for approximately 3 minutes. The LED on the front
cover flashes to indicate an alarm event (Figure 11, item 4).
Walk test the detection pattern and make any necessary
adjustments with the adjustable blinders (see Figures 8
or 9).
Walk test the unit and verify the detector is communicating
with the control panel. See also the control panel
manufacturer's instructions.
Notes
Allow minimal 8 s of non-motion between individual walks
to allow the PIR to stabilize.
If the walk test period has timed out, the LED flashes
3X fast and the detector returns to normal operating mode.
In this mode the wireless PIR only supervises every
18 minutes, and the LED is disabled to reduce battery
consumption.
The fixed lockout time after an alarm is 3 minutes.
Detector maintenance
When installed and used properly, the wireless PIR provides
years of service with minimal maintenance. Walk tests should
be performed annually to ensure proper operation. See "Walk
test" above. Clean the cover with a damp (water) cloth to keep
it free of dust and dirt. Always test the detector after cleaning.
Replacing the battery
Remove the battery to reset the low battery signal before
installing a new battery. To prevent a low battery condition,
install the battery exactly as described in "Installing the battery
and first set up" on page 4. Replace with the recommended
batteries only (Panasonic® CR123A). Use of any other
batteries may present a risk of fire or explosion.
WARNING! Lithium battery inside!
Risk of burned skin, blindness, or death.
Risk of explosion or disabled safeguard if the battery is
replaced by an incorrect type, subjected to extremely low air
pressure, or used with other equipment.
Disposal into fire or a hot oven, heating above 100˚C,
mechanically crushing or cutting, disassembling, recharging,

short circuiting, or exposing the battery to water can result in
an explosion.
This device can be equipped with up to 3 batteries. If multiple
batteries are used, replace all batteries at the same time.
Keep away from children. Dispose of used battery according
to battery directive instructions and/or as required by local
laws.
