For a 20-pin ATX connection a 4-pin part can be detached by simply sliding it out from the rest of the plug (and
sliding it back on laterally). If this is not necessary (20-pin connection at the mainboard), then you should NOT
use the 4-pin part for other sockets of the mainboard.
Warning!
If you use force, the ATX plug can also be plugged incorrectly onto the terminal on the mainboard! You
should be able to insert the ATX plug easily; it must click cleanly into place with the lateral clip.
The ATX power supply unit is equipped with an 8-pin ATX 12V plug which is necessary for many mainboards.
It is used to connect the +12V voltage via extra lines to the mainboard (to relieve the +12V line of the ATX power
supply unit). For older mainboards with 4-pin connection, the plug is separable (use the plug with both black/
yellow cables).
If your mainboard is equipped with such a connection, it is imperative that you connect it with this plug.
Otherwise your computer will not boot later on.
Do not use the 4-pin plug which you have separated from the wide 24-pin ATX plug. It has a different
assignment; the mainboard would get destroyed!
Check if your graphic card is equipped with its own power connection (e.g. fast PCEe graphic cards) and connect
the latter to a corresponding connection of the power supply unit.
If this is not observed, the graphic card produces no image.
Install the cables in the computer correctly and straight-lined, make sure that the cables are not pinched or
damaged in any way. Protect the cables from sharp edges in the computer housing. Make sure that the cables
don't get into a fan.
To fix the cables in the computer housing use, e.g. cable fasteners.
Check whether the power button on the front of your ATX housing is connected to the corresponding connection
on the mainboard.
Switching on via the mains switch does not result in switching on the computer (can possibly be
changed via the BIOS setting)!
Close the housing of the computer and reconnect it with the other devices, cables and accessories.
Now connect the computer with the mains voltage and switch the ATX power supply unit on via the mains switch
on the back of the ATX power supply unit.
The computer does not start yet. Briefly press the power button on the front of your ATX housing to
switch the computer on.
If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off straight away and control all settings and cable connections.
Before you open the housing to check it, make sure to switch off all devices and separate them
from the mains voltage. Switching off via the mains switch is not sufficient; pull the mains plug!
