4.2.3
Check functions and air-tightness
1. Insert mouthpiece or plug-in connector into your mouth and
inhale until a suction effect (negative pressure) is obtained.
Hold your breath for a moment. The negative pressure
should be maintained. Repeat the leak test twice.
2. Take the mouthpiece or plug-in connector out of your
mouth. Slowly open the pressure valve and read the
pressure on the manometer. It should be at least 180 bar /
2,600 psi, and no breathing gas must be able to escape
through the lung demand valve.
3. Insert the mouthpiece or plug-in connector into your mouth
and take a few deep breaths. There should be no difficulty
inhaling or exhaling.
4. Hold your breath. No more air should now be supplied from
the lung demand valve.
5. Shut off pressure valve and read pressure gauge.
After two minutes, there should be no detectable pressure
drop.
6. Press the purge valve and observe the pressure gauge.
The needle must return to "0".
7. Open pressure valve, slowly at first, then completely, and
then close it half a turn.
8. Don the diving apparatus, follow instructions for use.
