These abbreviated instructions represent only an excerpt of the FU operating instructions.
The latter should be read thoroughly before putting it into operation the first time.
The abbreviated instructions contain safety instructions and help the user to put the basic
model of the FU into operation and to operate it with the default settings.
Preparatory measures
All tasks for transport, installation and commissioning as well as for servicing should be carried out by
qualified technicians.
Qualified technicians in the sense of these basic safety guidelines are persons that are fa-
miliar with the set up, assembly, commissioning and operation of the product and have the
appropriate qualifications for their tasks.
Set up
The setting up and the cooling of the devices needs to be done according to the directives
of the corresponding documentation.
The propulsion converters need to be protected from inappropriate conditions. In particular
components may not be bent and/or insulation dimensions may not be changed during trans-
port and handling. The touching of electronic components and contacts must be avoided.
Electrical connection
When working on propulsion converters that are electrically charged, the valid national acci-
dent prevention regulations must be observed.
The electrical installation is to be carried out according to the pertinent regulations (e.g. cable cross-
sections, fuses, earth lines).
i
Information on EMC-compliant installation – such as insulation, earthing, arrangement of filters
and the laying of lines – can be found in the documentation for the propulsion converters.
These instructions must also always be observed with CE-marked propulsion converters.
Complying with the limits required by the EMC regulations lies in the responsibility of the
manufacturer of the system or machine.
