INFORMATION
Please note that the joints are exposed to higher structural loading as
a result of individual clinical parameters such as forefoot lever length or
angular limb deformities. These must be accommodated in the alignment
and in the structural design of the orthosis.
Insert the appropriate side bars into the connection channels. Options inclu-
de the 17B38=T (titanium), 17B38, 17B39, 17B40, 17B41, 17B84, 17B85
System Side Bar Sets or the 17Y105, 17Y107 System Lamination Bars.
The 636W28 Ottobock Special Adhesive is required to stabilize the bars
in the connection channels. To do this, degrease the attachment surfaces
using 634A1 Ottobock Thinner and Solvent or equal. Mix the contents of
the two tubes containing special adhesive and hardener (included), and
apply to the joint's connection channels. Insert the System Bars and screw
in the 501T7=7.5x9xM5 Phillips Head Screws firmly. Allow three to four
hours for the adhesive to dry prior to use. Final bonding strength will be
achieved after about 16 hours.
NOTICE
Do not apply heat in excess of H 300 °C (H 572 °F) because the mate-
rial's temper will be destroyed.
CAUTION
Before delivering the orthosis to the patient, make sure the joint systems
are precisely parallel and that both locks are parallel and engaging simul-
taneously. Instruct the patient on use and maintenance of the orthosis.
Note that the wedge locks will not disengage when there is a flexion
moment on the joints. The patient must keep the leg fully extended to
unlock the orthosis safely.
5 Maintenance
For cleaning and other maintenance of the upper joint section (1), the cover
(8) can be removed by removing the countersunk head screws (9).
