When the brass bushings (6) show traces of wear, they can be replaced. To
assemble, place the lubricated bearing washers (5) on the protruding bushings.
The 21A17 Cable Housing can be attached to the orthosis using the 21A5
Holding Device, which helps guide the 21A18=2 Perlon Cable. The Cable
Housing can be shortened to within 10 mm [3/8 inch] of the opening of the
upper joint section and must be screwed 3 mm [1/8 inch] into the upper
joint section for secure attachment.
The Cable Housing must be secured with 636K13 Loctite.
INFORMATION
Screwing the cable housing more than 3 mm [1/8 inch] into the upper
joint section compresses the compression spring and thus makes it more
difficult to release the lock.
The coupling piece (12) with inner spring (13) can be used to connect the
two perlon cables (fig. 2).
Use only 633F7 Ottobock Special Lubricant. To ensure proper function,
make sure no dirt particles enter the joint mechanism. Use appropriate
protection devices (e.g. joint covers), as necessary.
CAUTION
Visible wear on the lock mechanism may affect the patient's safety. Re-
place the wedge lock and/or the lower joint section, according to each
individual's use pattern.
INFORMATION
It is recommended that the function and condition of this orthosis be
checked every six months. The effectiveness of the 513D19=0.63x4x20
Compression Springs should be examined at this time, and they should
be replaced as necessary.
