Change the dust filter bag when the filter bag change indicator in the
window (Fig. 9/A1) appears and before prolonged storage or shipping.
For hygienic reasons, change the dust filter bag at least once every
three months.
1. Switch off the appliance and pull the plug from the mains socket,
ZChapter 4.3, 'Switching off'.
2. Open the dust compartment cover by pressing its release catch (Fig. 9/
A) and then lifting it up.
3. Lift the dust compartment cover until it locks in the highest position and
stays open by itself.
4. Take the dust filter bag holder with the filter bag out of the appliance
(Fig. 9/B).
NOTE:
Be careful when removing the dust filter bag so that no dust escapes.
5. Pull the full dust filter bag carefully out of the dust bag holder (Fig. 10/
A).
6. Push the new dust filter bag into the filter bag holder (Fig. 10/A) until it
is exactly flush with the edge of the filter bag holder.
7. Take this opportunity to check the motor protection filter as well. Clean
it if necessary, ZChapter 5.2, 'Cleaning the motor protection filter'.
8. Re-insert the filter bag holder with the new dust filter bag (Fig. 10/B):
- Push the dust bag holder back into the two guides.
- Push the dust filter bag holder all the way down.
NOTE:
The dust compartment cover can only be closed if the dust filter bag and
dust bag holder have been installed correctly.
9. Close the dust compartment cover. It clicks shut audibly.
1. Switch off the appliance and remove the filter bag holder with the dust

filter bag ZChapter 5.1, 'Changing the dust filter bag', steps 1–4.
2. Pull the motor protection filter up and out (Fig. 11/A).
NOTE:
We recommend to also check the exhaust filter on this occasion
(ZChapter 5.3, 'Cleaning the exhaust filter') and to clean both filters at
the same time if necessary (Fig. 11/B).
3. Rinse the motor protection filter thoroughly by hand under clear running
cold or hand-warm water (Fig. 11/B).
ATTENTION:
The filters are washable, but not suitable for cleaning in washing
machines or dishwashers. Do not use cleaning agents for cleaning.
Leave the filters to dry after cleaning them with water (approx. 24 hours
at room temperature, Fig. 12/A). Only put them back into the appliance
when they are completely dry.
4. If the motor protection filter is damaged or deformed, replace it
(ZChapter 5.4, 'Spare parts and accessories').
5. The motor protection filter has a fine and rough side (Fig. 11/B, magni-
fied view). Before inserting, hold the motor protection filter so that the
fine structure faces the motor and the rough structure faces out of the
appliance.
6. Push the motor protection filter back behind its four guiderails until it will
go no further (Fig. 12/B).
7. Insert the dust bag holder with the dust filter bag and close the dust
compartment cover ZChapter 5.1, 'Changing the dust filter bag', steps
8–9.
