After extended operation, occasionally check for flash tube degradation. Should the tube
misfire, have a noticeable decrease in light output, glow continuously, or darken to a point
beyond that shown in figure 1; it should be replaced. Not replacing the flash tube when any of
the above conditions exist could cause a breakdown of other components on the printed circuit
board.
To replace the flash tube, proceed as follows:
1. Remove the four screws and chrome load bearing plates which secure the dome to the
housing assembly. Remove the dome.
2. Remove the three 8-32 nuts and dome mounting plate which secure the fresnel lens to the
mounting plate. Lift the lens away from the housing assembly.
3. Grasp the flash tube by its base and pull it out of the socket, using a gentle rocking motion.
Install a new flash tube and reassemble the light.
C. Fuse and Printed Circuit Board Assembly.

SAFETY MESSAGE TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL

Listed below are some important safety instructions and precautions you should follow:
• Read and understand all instructions before operating this system.
• Any maintenance to the light system must be done with the power turned off.
• Any maintenance to the light system must be performed by a trained electrician in accordance
with NEC Guidelines and local codes.
• Never alter the unit in any manner. Safety in hazardous locations may be endangered if additional
openings or other alterations are made in units specifically designed for use in these locations.
• The nameplate, which may contain cautionary or other information of importance to maintenance
personnel, should not be obscured if exterior of housings used in hazardous locations are painted.
Failure to follow all safety precautions and instructions may result in property damage, serious
injury, or death to you or others.
To replace the fuse or printed circuit board assembly, proceed as follows:
If an audible device (speaker, horn, bell, etc.) is NOT installed in the unit, the fuse can be replaced
from the bottom of the unit by removing the four fastening nuts which secure the lower
1. Perform steps 1 and 2 in paragraph B (above).
2. Remove the four Phillips head screws and washers which secure the lens mounting plate to
the main casting.
3. Remove the four spacers from the rubber grommets.
4. Lift the lens mounting plate up and out. Remove the four rubber grommets from the notches
in the lens mounting plate. The 3-ampere fuse is now accessible for replacement.
5. With "long-nose" pliers, gently squeeze the four nylon self-locking supports and separate
the printed circuit board assembly from the lens mounting plate. Do this by squeezing the
tabs of the self-locking supports on the lens mounting plate side of the assembly.
6. Install the new printed circuit board on the mounting plate via the nylon self-locking
supports mounted on the new printed circuit board.
