Electrical Safety Checkpoints
Always consider the following:
•
Connect the instrument to a correctly installed line power outlet
that has a protective conductor connection (earth or ground).
•
Do not operate the instrument while any panels or internal parts
are removed. If the opened instrument must be operated, the
operation must be performed only by a qualified service person
who is aware of all the hazards involved.
•
Turn the power off and disconnect the instrument from all
voltage sources before opening the instrument for any
adjustment, replacement, maintenance, or repair.
•
Only a trained and qualified FSE may service the instrument.
•
Only use fuses with the required current rating and the specified
type. Do not use makeshift fuses or short-circuit the fuse
holders.
•
In the event of an accidental spill of liquid or chemicals, remove
power to the instrument before performing any cleaning
procedure.
•
If the instrument is considered unsafe to use, unplug the
instrument so that it cannot be operated. Secure the instrument
against any unauthorized or unintentional operation.
•
The electrical safety of the instrument may be impaired if the
instrument:
Shows visible damage after transportation.
Has been subjected to prolonged storage under unfavorable
conditions.
This topic describes the potential mechanical hazards associated with
the instrument, and the precautions to take to avoid those hazards.
