6.3 Master / slave operation
GB
Several LED-300RGB units may be interconnected
to control all further slave units via a master unit.
Connect the output DMX OUTPUT (4) of the mas-
ter unit via a 3-pole XLR cable to the input DMX
INPUT (3) of the first slave unit. Connect the output
DMX OUTPUT of the first slave unit to the input
DMX INPUT of the second slave unit etc., until all
units are connected in a chain.
Adjust the master unit to automatic mode or music
mode (
chapter 6.1 or 6.2). The slave units must
be adjusted to slave operation as follows:
1) Press button ESC so many times until the main
menu will be reached.
2) Select the option
button UP or DOWN.
3) Press button ENTER: The slave operation is
activated, the display shows
control signals are received from the master
unit, the point behind the first letter flashes on
the display.
Note: According to the option of the menu, the speed can
also be changed for slave operation (
page 15). However, this has no function, i. e. the slave
units run at the speed adjusted at the master unit.
7 DMX Control
For operation via a light controller with DMX512
protocol (e. g. DMX-1440 or DMX-510USB from
"img Stage Line") the light effect unit is equipped
with 8 DMX control channels but it can also be
operated with 4 DMX control channels. In the
8-channel mode, the three mirrors and the three
LED groups are separately controlled, in the
4-channel mode they are controlled in common.
The functions of the channels and the correspond-
ing DMX values can be found in figure 3.
7.1 Connection
As a DMX interface the unit is equipped with 3-pole
XLR connections with the following contact config-
uration:
pin 1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
For connection, special cables for high data flow
should be used. Standard microphone cables with
screening and a minimum cross section of 2 ×
0,22 mm
2
and with a capacity as low as possible
can only be recommended for a total cable length
of up to 100 m. For cable lengths exceeding 150 m
it is recommended to insert a DMX level matching
amplifier (e. g. SR-103DMX from "img Stage Line").
1) Connect the DMX input (3) to the DMX output of
the light controller.

in the main menu with
. As soon as
menu structure,
2) Connect the DMX output (4) to the DMX input of
the next light effect unit. Connect its output again
to the input of the following unit, etc. until all light
effect units are connected in a chain.
3) Terminate the DMX output of the last DMX unit
of the chain with a 120 Ω resistor (> 0.3 W): Con-
nect a corresponding terminating plug (e. g.
DLT-123 from "img Stage Line") to the jack.
7.2 Adjusting the number of DMX channels
1) Press button ESC so many times until the main
menu will be reached.
2) Select the option
button UP or DOWN.
3) Press button ENTER: The present number of
channels adjusted –
(8 channels) is displayed.
4) Select the desired option with button UP or
DOWN.
7.3 Adjusting the start address and defin-
ing the start position of the mirrors
For operating the unit with a light controller, adjust
the DMX start address for the first DMX channel.
The following DMX channels are then automatically
assigned to the following addresses. (For example,
for start address 5 in the 8-channel mode, the
channels 2 to 8 are assigned to the addresses 6 to
12, address 13 would then be the next possible free
start address for the following DMX controlled unit.)
1) Press button ESC so many times until the main
menu will be reached.
2) Select the option
button UP or DOWN.
3) Press button ENTER: The present address
adjusted, e. g.
4) Adjust the desired address with button UP or
DOWN.
5) Then it is possible to select between two start
positions for each mirror:
mirror 1:
or
mirror 2:
or
mirror 3:
or
Press button ENTER: The start position of the
last mirror adjusted is displayed, it is possible to
switch over between the two positions with button
UP or DOWN. Then switch with button ENTER to
the next mirror and make the adjustments etc.
After adjusting the start address, the light effect
unit can be operated via the DMX controller.
Once DMX signals are received, the point
behind the first letter will flash on the display.
