• Switch off the product once it is longer needed.
• Do not dismantle the product, except for inserting or replacing the batteries as
described in this operating manual.
• Maintenance, adjustments or repairs may only be carried out by a specialist/spe-
cialised workshop. Improperly performed maintenance, adjustments, or repara-
tions might result in dangerous laser radiation.
• If proceeding in a different way or using any other controls than those specified in
this manual, you may expose yourself to hazardous radiation.
c) Operation
• The product must not get damp or wet as this would damage it Therefore, do not
use the product during precipitation, in humid environments or in/under water.
• Only use the device in a moderate climate, do not use it in a tropical climate.
For more information on acceptable environmental conditions, see the chapter
"Technical data".
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room
into a warm one. The resulting condensation may lead to malfunctions or damage
under certain circumstances!
Let the product reach room temperature before using it.
• Protect the product from dust and dirt.
• Turn off the product when it is not in use.
• If not used for a longer period (e.g., in case of storage), remove the inserted bat-
teries/rechargeable batteries. Old batteries/rechargeable batteries can leak and
damage the product! Afterwards, keep the product in a clean and dry place out of
reach of children.
Notes on primary and secondary batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by child-
ren or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately, it could be fatal!
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay
attention to plus/+ and minus/- signs).
• Make sure that batteries/rechargeable batteries are not short-circuited, dismantled or thrown
into a fire. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries; they may explode! Only charge rechar-
geable batteries; use a suitable battery charger.
• Chemical liquid may leak out of spent or overcharged batteries, which may damage the de-
vice. If not used for a longer period (e.g., in case of storage), remove the inserted batteries/
rechargeable batteries.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries can cause acid burns if they come into
contact with the skin; therefore, wear suitable protective gloves.
• Liquids leaking from batteries/rechargeable batteries are very chemically aggressive. Ob-
jects or surfaces coming into contact with these liquids may be severely damaged. Therefore,
keep batteries/rechargeable batteries in a suitable location.
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries. Do not mix batteries/
rechargeable batteries with different charges (flat and half-discharged batteries/rechargeable
batteries).
• Use either batteries or rechargeable batteries; never mix standard batteries with rechargeab-
le batteries. Use only batteries/rechargeable batteries of the same model and type and from
the same manufacturer.
• For the correct disposal of batteries, please read the chapter „Disposal".
Operation with rechargeable batteries is possible. However, the operating time is
reduced owing to the lower voltage (battery = 1.5V, rechargeable battery = 1.2V).
Therefore, we recommend operating the product only with high-quality alkaline bat-
teries to ensure long and reliable operation.
