cutting line blade. Warning! Take care not to cut
yourself on the cutting line blade.
5.2.2 Removing/fi tting the cutting line unit
(Fig. 8)
5.2.2.a Removing the cutting line unit
The cutting line unit must be removed for later
use as a scythe. Turn the cutting line unit (Item
C) until you can see the recess of the fl ange (Fig.
11a/Item H) at the housing recess (Item D). Insert
the hex key (Item 26) into the recesses and turn
the cutting line unit (Item C) clockwise (a) off the
gear axle.
5.2.2.b Fitting the cutting line unit
The cutting line unit must be refi tted for later use
as a trimmer. Turn the cutting line unit (Item C)
counter-clockwise (b) onto the gear axle as far as
the housing recess (Item D) until you can see the
recess of the fl ange (Fig. 11a/Item H). Insert the
hex key (Item 26) into the recesses and turn the
cutting line unit (Item C) counter-clockwise. Re-
move the hex key. Check whether the cutting line
unit can rotate freely. If this is not the case, have
the mechanism checked by an expert.
5.2.3 Guard hood for use with the cutting bla-
de (Fig. 9- 10)
Caution! The cutting line blade guard hood (Item
23a) must be removed when you want to work
with the cutting blade. Take care not to cut your-
self on the cutting line blade (Item 23c).
Slacken the two retaining screws (Item E) on the
cutting line blade cover (Item 23a). Start at the
side and carefully press in the lugs (Item 23b) and
gradually pull off the cutting line blade cover (Item
23a).
5.2.4 Guard hood for use with the cutting line
(Fig. 9-10)
Caution! The cutting line blade guard hood (Item
23a) must be fi tted when you want to work with
the cutting line. Take care not to cut yourself on
the cutting line blade.
Start at the side and press the lugs (Item 23b) in
again. Fasten them with the two retaining screws
(Item E).
5.2.5 Fitting/removing the cutting blade

5.2.5.a Fitting the cutting blade
(Fig. 11a – 11f)
Important! If the fl ange (Item 30) between the
cutting blade and the gear housing (see the de-
tailed drawing 11g/Item 30) slips off the gear axle
(Item F) while dismantling the cutting line unit,
push it back onto the gear axle (Item F). The open
fl ange side must face the gear housing.
1. Place the cutting blade (Item 25) onto the
fl ange (Item 30) in central position.
2. Fit the pressure plate (Item 27) with the high-
er edge facing the cutting blade. (See also the
detailed drawing 11g.)
3. Put on the pressure plate cover (Item 28) (see
also the detailed drawing 11g)
4. Screw on the hex nut M10 (Item 29) with its
left-hand thread (see also the detailed dra-
wing 11g). Warning! For safety reasons, self-
locking nuts are allowed to be used only once
without exception.
5. Insert the hex key (Item 26) into the recess of
the gear housing and fl ange. Tighten the hex
nut using the multifunction tool size 19 (Item
24) securely.
6. Check that the cutting blade rotates freely
after you remove the assembly tools. If this is
not the case, have the mechanism checked
by an expert.
7. Remove the blade guard covers (Item 25a).
Warning! Take care not to injure yourself on
the cutting blade.
Important! Vibrations when using the cutting
blade
If considerable vibrations of an unusual nature
arise when using the cutting line after you have
fi tted the cutting blade, this is because the cutting
blade is not fi tted in central position. Switch off the
tool immediately. Remove the battery/batteries
and refi t the cutting blade.
Caution! A cutting blade that is not fi tted in cen-
tral position will cause damage to the tool!
5.2.5.b Removing the cutting blade
Remove the cutting blade in reverse order to that
described in section 5.2.5.a.
5.2.6 Fitting the trimmer/scythe module on
the motor unit (Fig. 12)
Push the connecting tube (Item 8) of the fully pre-
assembled trimmer/scythe module and the exten-
sion tube (Item 12) of the pre-assembled motor
unit into one another and screw them together
with the union nut (Item 7). To dismantle, proceed
in reverse order.
